TL;DR: In this article, a lock-free multiprocessing load balancing solution for multi-core environments is proposed. But, it does not address how to send all requests in a user session consistently to the same backend server, i.e. session maintaining.
Abstract: Load balancing device is an important part of cloud platform. One of the most common applications of load balancing is to provide a single powerful virtual machine from multiple servers. In multi-core environment, the load balancing device can run multiple physically parallel load-balancing processes to increase overall performance. An important issue when operating a load-balanced service is how to send all requests in a user session consistently to the same backend server, i.e. session maintaining. Most of multiprocessing load balancing solutions use shared memory and lock when manage session. By modifying Linux kernel, we avoid using shared memory and implement a lock-free multiprocessing load balancing solution.

TL;DR: A novel resource control platform for virtualized DC environments aimed at optimizing virtual machine placement on physical servers also considering traffic load across links in order to limit oversubscription-related problems is introduced.
Abstract: The increasing popularity of cloud computing applications and the advances in virtualization software technologies (i.e., Virtual Machine deployment) have driven Data Center infrastructures toward a greater complexity and workload dynamicity. Thus, a unified control and management of computing and network resources would be required for assuring proper traffic performances in high volatile virtual machine deployments. This paper introduces a novel resource control platform for virtualized DC environments aimed at optimizing virtual machine placement on physical servers also considering traffic load across links in order to limit oversubscription-related problems. To this purpose OpenFlow statistics are elaborated for their distinguished features that well suit virtualized environments. Two novel algorithms have been conceived and compared by simulations for evaluating the effectiveness of proposed traffic-aware VM placement strategies.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors propose a link contract server, which is a mesh network of public key identity servers and/or link contract servers that are interconnected, and the link contract can be in JSON format in an HTTP or HTTPS header.
Abstract: An electronic marketplace system that protects data transfers across disparate servers or networks can include communication devices that couple system users to a mesh network of public key identity servers and/or link contract servers that are interconnected. The public key identity servers collectively contain a global last-closed ledger of public encryption keys for system users, and verify users using the public keys by accessing local ledgers or asking other identity servers for the public keys. A link contract server provides a link contract regarding the allowed use of the transferred protected data, and provides for a data transfer between the parties after all have agreed thereto. The link contract can be in JSON format in an HTTP or HTTPS header. Users can submit requests to link contract servers, and requests can be searched by vendors prior to proposing a link contract.

TL;DR: In this article, a method, apparatus, system, and signal-bearing medium that, in an embodiment, determine a cipher strength based on a trust level associated with a request, create a unit of work based on the request, encrypt the unit-of-work into a message based on cipher strength, and send the message to grid servers.
Abstract: A method, apparatus, system, and signal-bearing medium that, in an embodiment, determine a cipher strength based on a trust level associated with a request, create a unit of work based on the request, encrypt the unit of work into a message based on the cipher strength, and send the message to grid servers. In various embodiments, the trust level may be determined based on a security token associated with the request or based on a zone from which the request originates. In various embodiments, the request originates from a client that belongs to the zone or originates from one of the grid servers that belongs to the zone. In an embodiment, a request from a grid server may be associated with a response to a previous unit of work that the grid server executed.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors aim to experimentally study the possibility of controlling these heterogeneous temperature distributions by controlling the cold air flow rates along the servers and find that a uniform increase of server's flow rate from the bottom to the top of servers rack cabinet provides the lowest temperature at both cooling aisle (around 10%) and exhaust aisles (around 5%), and the best uniform surface temperature of all rack servers.
