Establishing the Optimum Inventory Size and Stocking Policy for a Warehouse

Abstract: Graphical and algebraic solutions are described for determining minimum-cost order quantities, reorder points, and space allocations for warehouse design when either a dollar stockout penalty or a service level is specified. Similar relations are derived for the minimum-cost inventory stocking policy with multiple items in a fixed volume of existing warehouse space.
