TL;DR: After considering some of the issues associated with big data and cloud computing, some solution were suggested towards improving the two key concepts which will go a long way in increasing the adoption rate of cloud computing by organizations.
Abstract: Big data is a key concept that cannot be overlooked in the IT world considering the prominent increase in data, and data related services, it is important to explore this field and look at ways to improve data service delivery especially in the cloud. Cloud computing on the other hand helps in tackling the issue of storage and data service. This research focus on the two key concept big data and cloud computing and some of the issues and challenges that are inherent with the deployment of cloud services and big data. The shows study that security challenges is among the most prominent issue in cloud and big data services. The plumbing issue and some other issues such as the issue of the cost to run cloud services in handling big data were observed. Also the issues of service level agreement which gives an organization the assurance of enjoying all services rendered by the organization running the cloud services. After considering some of the issues associated with big data and cloud computing, some solution were suggested towards improving the two key concepts which will go a long way in increasing the adoption rate of cloud computing by organizations. It is important for organizations to consider the nature of how their data will grow in the future before deploying any cloud service in their business.

TL;DR: The Simple Obligation and Right Model (SORM) provides an abstract, domain-independent model of contractual content that captures the main types of rights and obligations and deals with their dynamics during the life-time of a contract.
Abstract: Online purchase and delivery of goods and services requires an electronic contracting process. Formalization of contractual content enables automatic delivery of services and monitoring of the terms and conditions of the contract at service runtime. The Simple Obligation and Right Model (SORM) provides an abstract, domain-independent model of contractual content. Model instances can be interpreted and managed by applications involved in checking contractual entitlements and delivering and supervising a service in compliance with contractual rights and obligations. It captures the main types of rights and obligations and deals with their dynamics during the life-time of a contract.

13 May 2012TL;DR: Two tree-based distributed mutual exclusion algorithms that support the SLA concept are proposed, a modified version of the priority-based Kanrar-Chaki algorithm and a novel algorithm, based on Raymond algorithm, where a deadline is associated with every request.
Abstract: In Cloud Computing, Service Level Agreement (SLA) is a contract that defines a level and a type of QoS between a cloud provider and a client. Since applications in a Cloud share resources, we propose two tree-based distributed mutual exclusion algorithms that support the SLA concept. The first one is a modified version of the priority-based Kanrar-Chaki algorithm while the second one is a novel algorithm, based on Raymond algorithm, where a deadline is associated with every request. In both cases, our aim is to improve Critical Section execution rate and to reduce the number of SLA violations, which, for the first algorithm represents the number of priority inversions (i.e. a higher priority request is satisfied after a lower one) and for the second one, the number of requests whose deadline is not respected. Performance evaluation results show that our solutions significantly reduce SLA violations avoiding message overhead.

TL;DR: This article regards SLA management as a distrusted process that should not be handled by a single authority and proposes a conceptual blockchain-based framework to cope with some limitations associated with traditionalSLA management approaches.
Abstract: In pursuit of effective service level agreement (SLA) monitoring and enforcement in the context of Internet of Things (IoT) applications, this article regards SLA management as a distrusted process that should not be handled by a single authority. Here, we aim to justify our view on the matter and propose a conceptual blockchain-based framework to cope with some limitations associated with traditional SLA management approaches.
