TL;DR: A conceptual model of customer perceived value is proposed and empirically investigated in this article, where the authors argue that time and location are explicit value dimensions and contrast them to traditional value dimensions.
Abstract: Considering the empowered customer interacting with technology‐based self‐services, temporal and spatial access can be argued to influence service delivery. However, service management models have not considered the value of the service delivery at various locations and time frames not controlled by the service provider. Consequently, by arguing that time and location are explicit value dimensions, this paper investigates the importance of time and location and contrasts them to traditional value dimensions. A conceptual model of customer perceived value is proposed and empirically investigated. By linking value and quality models, customer perceived value is conceptualized as a function of benefit and sacrifice of technical, functional, temporal and spatial value dimensions. The empirical findings indicate that time and location are perceived as important value dimensions and that they are even more important dimensions than outcome and process elements. Theoretical and practical implications of the findings are discussed.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors propose a service methodology based on distribution of secured content, such as movies, music, games, information and the like, whereby revenue may be generated for premier and pay-per-use access to the secured content.
Abstract: A service methodology based on distribution of secured content, such as, movies, music, games, information and the like, whereby revenue may be generated for premier and pay-per-use access to the secured content. The service is manifested by the combination of a video disk reader, controller and authorization center. A service provider, for instance, locks up a movie on a video disk for which a premier event viewing date and time may be defined and which the provider may then directly distribute, in advance of the premier event, to potential consumers. Each consumer may purchase the right to view the movie once for a certain fee, for example $5.00, through online access from the controller to the authorization center, but the single viewing will only be allowed by the controller on or after the premier event. Thereafter, the consumer pays for viewing of the movie on a pay-per-use basis or over a defined window of time, perhaps for reduced fee, such as $1.00. Moreover, the online authorization process makes it possible to track consumer preferences at the authorization center, and as an alternative to the online payment processing, smart cards may be utilized for such.

TL;DR: In this paper, a method for automatically fulfilling lending conditions includes the steps of maintaining a database of a plurality of registered service providers, receiving a loan application having one or more conditions to be fulfilled for the loan application to be approved, evaluating the conditions to determine the actions to be taken towards fulfilling the conditions, and automatically executing at least one action of the conditions.
Abstract: A method for automatically fulfilling lending conditions includes the steps of maintaining a database of a plurality of registered service providers, receiving a loan application having one or more conditions to be fulfilled for the loan application to be approved, evaluating the one or more conditions to determine one or more actions to be taken towards fulfilling the one or more conditions, and automatically executing at least one action of the one or more actions to be taken towards fulfilling at least one of the one or more conditions, wherein the at least one action includes automatically requesting information for fulfilling the at least one condition from a registered service provider of the plurality of registered service providers.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors explore the forms that combinations of digital manufacturing, logistics and equipment use are likely to take and how these novel combinations may affect the relationship among logistics service providers (LSPs), users and manufacturers of equipment.
Abstract: Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to explore the forms that combinations of digital manufacturing, logistics and equipment use are likely to take and how these novel combinations may affect the relationship among logistics service providers (LSPs), users and manufacturers of equipment. Design/methodology/approach – Brian Arthur’s theory of combinatorial technological evolution is applied to examine possible digital manufacturing-driven transformations. The F-18 Super Hornet is used as an illustrative example of a service supply chain for a complex product. Findings – The introduction of digital manufacturing will likely result in hybrid solutions, combining conventional logistics, digital manufacturing and user operations. Direct benefits can be identified in the forms of life cycle extension and the increased availability of parts in challenging locations. Furthermore, there are also opportunities for both equipment manufacturers and LSPs to adopt new roles, thereby supporting the efficient and sust...

TL;DR: In this paper, a user selects a service provider from a plurality of available service providers, and the client device then queries the user for the user's information and formats the information into a predetermined data structure and format.
Abstract: A user of a client device selects a service provider from a plurality of available service providers. The client device then queries the user for the user's information and formats the user's information into a predetermined data structure and format. The client device connects to the service provider and sends the formatted user's information to the service provider. The service provider responsively creates configuration data and provides it to the client device. The configuration data is used to configure a plurality of applications on the client device, allowing the user to establish future communication sessions with the service provider.
