TL;DR: In this paper, the authors describe an architecture for providing Internet access, which includes a host organization network through which network access is provided, and an access module is provided through which individual client computing devices can access the Internet.
Abstract: Systems and methods for providing network access, e.g. Internet access, are described. An architecture includes a host organization network through which network access is provided. The host organization network can be advantageously deployed in public areas such as airports and shopping malls. An authentication/negotiation component is provided for authenticating various users and negotiating for services with service providers on behalf of the system users. The authentication/negotiation component can include one or more specialized servers and a policy manager that contains policies that govern user access to the Internet. An authentication database is provided and authenticates various users of the system. An access module is provided through which individual client computing devices can access the Internet. In one embodiment, the access module comprises individual wireless access points that permit the client computing devices to wirelessly communicate data packets that are intended for the Internet. In one aspect, users are given a variety of choices of different service levels that they can use for accessing the Internet. The service levels can vary in such things as bandwidth allocation and security measures. The various service levels can be purchased by the users using their computing devices.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors describe a system for enabling users to select from available secure service providers (each having a Trusted Service Manager (TSM)) for provisioning applications and services on a secure element installed on a device of the user.
Abstract: Systems and methods are described herein for enabling users to select from available secure service providers (each having a Trusted Service Manager (“TSM”)) for provisioning applications and services on a secure element installed on a device of the user. The device includes a service provider selector (“SPS”) module that provides a user interface for selecting the secure service provider. In one embodiment, the SPS communicates with a key escrow service that maintains cryptographic keys for the secure element and distributes the keys to the user selected secure service provider. The key escrow service also revokes the keys from deselected secure service providers. In another embodiment, the SPS communicates with a central TSM that provisions applications and service on behalf of the user selected secure service provider. The central TSM serves as a proxy between the secure service providers and the secure element.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors propose an authentication process whereby a user of the mobile station may select a WLAN service provider from among one or more WLAN Service providers and/or one or multiple 3GPP service providers before being authenticated and further to make a decision to subscribe to the services of the selected service provider based on network service information, other than or in addition to an Service Set Identifier (SSID), associated with the selected Service Provider.
Abstract: A wireless local area network (WLAN) communication system (300) that includes an access point (308) in communication with a mobile station (302) and at least one Authentication, Authorization, and Accounting (AAA) server (314, 318) provides an authentication process whereby a user of the mobile station may select a WLAN service provider from among one or more WLAN service providers and/or one or more 3GPP service providers (322, 324) before being authenticated and further to make a decision to subscribe to the services of the selected service provider based on network service information, other than or in addition to an Service Set Identifier (SSID), associated with the selected service provider.

TL;DR: A novel brokerage-based architecture in the Cloud is proposed, where the Cloud brokers is responsible for the service selection and a unique indexing technique for managing the information of a large number of Cloud service providers is designed.
Abstract: great opportunities for consumers to find the best service and best pricing, which however raises new challenges on how to select the best service out of the huge pool. It is time-consuming for consumers to collect the necessary information and analyze all service providers to make the decision. This is also a highly demanding task from a computational perspective, because the same computations may be conducted repeatedly by multiple consumers who have similar requirements. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a novel brokerage-based architecture in the Cloud, where the Cloud brokers is responsible for the service selection. In particular, we design a unique indexing technique for managing the information of a large number of Cloud service providers. We then develop efficient service selection algorithms that rank potential service providers and aggregate them if necessary. We prove the efficiency and effectiveness of our approach through an experimental study with the real and synthetic Cloud data.
