TL;DR: In this paper, a method for accurately determining the geographic location of a PC or other networked device on the Internet is presented, where the client collects an array of IP address and other network information as a result of the trace-routes, and the traceroute IP information is then transmitted to the service provider that is trying to identify the geographic locations of the client.
Abstract: A method for accurately determining the geographic location of a PC or other networked device on the Internet. Client software furnished by a service provider performs trace-route or other network analysis commands to known servers (e.g., eBay, Yahoo, Amazon) or even servers at random locations. The client collects an array of IP address and other network information as a result of the trace-routes, and the trace-route IP information is then transmitted to the service provider that is trying to identify the geographic location of the client. Using the array of IP addresses thus generated, the Internet server software can analyze location information of each Internet hop within each trace-route. For example, the server might look at the first five hops from the client to the server. If four of the five routers have addresses within the geographic area of interest, the server can conclude that the client is probably within the geographic area.

TL;DR: In this article, a database central routing device is provided for routing access requests for internet access among a variety of on-line service providers, which generally includes a central server having a list of algorithms pertaining to access phone numbers of internet access providers to be chosen from.
Abstract: A database central routing device is provided for routing access requests for internet access among a variety of on-line service providers. The device generally includes a central server having a list of algorithms pertaining to access phone numbers of internet access providers to be chosen from. The central routing device further includes an automatic phone number identifier to identify incoming calls in order to identify the user as a customer. An algorithm generator is also included in order to download algorithms pertaining to particular phone numbers in order to give the user access to a variety of internet access providers. The central routing device allows the user to select from a number of internet access providers depending on the availability of the providers. Factors such as time of day, consistent peak and off peak hours of any particular provider, the time of access, the type of user such as consumer or business user, and other factors in order to make efficient use of a variety of internet access providers.

TL;DR: In this article, a component of a communication service provider system receives an indication of a notification for a user of a mobile communication device, which may be received from a source internal or external to the communication service providers system.
Abstract: Notifying users of mobile communication devices, which may include providing options for response to notifications. A component of a communication service provider system receives an indication of a notification for a user of a mobile communication device. The notification may be received from a source internal or external to the communication service provider system. A component of the mobile communication service provider formats the notification so that it is compatible with the mobile communication device of the user and sends the notification to the mobile communication device of the user. The notification may include one or more options to respond to the notification using the mobile communication device. The notification may, for example, pertain to minutes-of-use in a mobile communication service plan, or to other information, including notifications from outside service providers such as airlines, banks, restaurants, hotels, libraries, credit card companies, etc.

TL;DR: In this paper, a conceptual framework of personalization is presented, based on the literature, to help to understand what it is all about in question when talking about personalization, and it is hoped that the framework is useful when discussing and developing the idea of personalisation further.
Abstract: Purpose – The object of this paper is to help to understand what it is all about in question when talking about personalization.Design/methodology/approach – A conceptual framework of personalization is presented, based on the literature.Findings – Marketers are looking increasingly at personalization to help them improve the performance of their efforts. However, personalization seems to be hard to apply. Some of these problems are caused by the fact that personalization means something different to each business and to the different actors in the value chain. This lack of agreement regarding the meaning of personalization limits successful communication between the different actors who produce or buy services and products that are connection with personalized marketing. This hinders co‐operation between service providers and marketers who are willing to apply personalization.Originality/value – It is hoped that the framework is useful when discussing and developing the idea of personalization further.
