TL;DR: The underlying analytical and algorithmic substrates based on randomization for job distribution, replication, monitoring, aggregation and oblivious resource sharing and communication between participating hosts are described and support the claims of robustness and scalability analytically with high probabilistic guarantees.
Abstract: Motivated by the needs and success of projects such as SETI@home and genome@home, we propose an architecture for a sustainable large-scale peer-to-peer environment for distributed cycle sharing among Internet hosts. Such networks are characterized by highly dynamic state due to high arrival and departure rates. This makes it difficult to build and maintain structured networks and to use state-based resource allocation techniques. We build our system to work in an environment similar to current file-sharing networks such as Gnutella and Freenet. In doing so, we are able to leverage vast network resources while providing resilience to random failures, low network overhead, and an open architecture for resource brokering. This paper describes the underlying analytical and algorithmic substrates based on randomization for job distribution, replication, monitoring, aggregation and oblivious resource sharing and communication between participating hosts. We support our claims of robustness and scalability analytically with high probabilistic guarantees. Our algorithms do not introduce any state dependencies, and hence are resilient to dynamic node arrivals, departures, and failures. We support all analytical claims with a detailed simulation-based evaluation of our distributed framework.

TL;DR: This work presents and proves the correctness of algorithms that address the major issues that must be addressed in order to solve the problem of executing a collection of independently designed and validated task systems upon a common platform composed of a preemptive processor and additional shared resources.
Abstract: We study the problem of executing a collection of independently designed and validated task systems upon a common platform composed of a preemptive processor and additional shared resources. We present an abstract formulation of the problem and identify the major issues that must be addressed in order to solve this problem. We present and prove the correctness of algorithms that address these issues, and thereby obtain a design for an open real-time environment.

TL;DR: In this paper, a parallel, multi-threaded processor system and technique for arbitrating command requests is described, which includes a plurality of microengines, a plurality shared system resources and a global command arbiter.
Abstract: A parallel, multi-threaded processor system and technique for arbitrating command requests is described. The system includes a plurality of microengines, a plurality of shared system resources and a global command arbiter. The global command arbiter uses a command request protocol that is based on the shared system resources and command type to grant or deny a microengine command request for a shared resource.

TL;DR: In this paper, a server-client network conference system having a conference server 100 and a plurality of conference terminals 140 a to 140 n through a network 130, a conference data storage section 120 creates a real-time conference data file 123 and an index file 122 containing time-of-day information and heading information while a conference proceeds after the conference is over.
Abstract: In a server-client network conference system having a conference server 100 and a plurality of conference terminals 140 a to 140 n through a network 130, a conference data storage section 120 creates a real-time conference data file 123 and an index file 122 containing time-of-day information and heading information while a conference proceeds After the conference is over, edit such as voice stream merge processing, image thinning-out processing, etc, in the real-time conference data file 123 is performed to create a minute file 124 and the minute file 124 is managed with an index file 122

TL;DR: In this paper, a High Speed Link System providing network and data transfer capabilities, implemented via standard input/output (I/O) device controllers, protocols, cables and components, comprising a System, Apparatus and Method is claimed; and described in one or more embodiments.
Abstract: A High Speed Link System providing network and data transfer capabilities, implemented via standard input/output (I/O) device controllers, protocols, cables and components, to connect one or more Host computing systems, comprising a System, Apparatus and Method is claimed; and described in one or more embodiments. An illustrative embodiment of the invention connects two or more Host systems via USB 3.0 ports and cables, establishing Network, Control, Data Exchange, and Power management required to route and transfer data at high speeds, as well as resource sharing. A Link System established using USB 3.0 operates at the full 4.8Gbps, eliminating losses inherent when translating to, or encapsulating within, a network protocol, such as the Internet Protocol. Method claimed herein describes how two or more connected Host systems, detect one another, and establish separate communication and data exchange bridges, wherein control sequences from the Hosts' application direct the operation of the Apparatus.
