TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the conversion of an image from λ = 10.6 μ to 0.65 μ by nonlinear optical methods in a crystal of proustite.
Abstract: An investigation was made of the conversion of an image from λ = 10.6 μ to λ = 0.65 μ by nonlinear optical methods in a crystal of proustite. A resolution of 10 lines/mm was achieved using a crystal 0.65 cm thick. The conversion efficiency was not less than 10–5. The angular detuning of the signal beam was 0.170 rad.

TL;DR: In this paper, an optical interferometer includes a light source that emits a coherent first beam and a second beam that has a frequency difference corresponding to the natural frequency of a target molecule.
Abstract: An optical interferometer includes: a light source that emits a coherent first beam and a second beam that has a frequency difference corresponding to the natural frequency of a target molecule; amplitude modulating means that modulates the amplitude of the second beam; splitting means that splits the first beam into a reference beam and a first applied beam; optical path length adjusting means that adjusts the optical path length of the reference beam; and detecting means that detects an interference pattern between the reference beam and the first beam (a signal beam) that has experienced a stimulated Raman loss or gain in accordance with the amplitude modulation as a result of the frequency difference resonating with the target molecule when the first applied beam and a second applied beam (the amplitude modulated second beam) have been applied to a measurement position of an object.

TL;DR: In this paper, a three-beam system for obtaining a HOLOGRAPHIC record on a high speed projection of a high-speed projectile is described, where a coherent beacon of RADIATION is divided into a refereence beacon, a direct beacon, and a reflected beacon.
Abstract: A THREE BEAM SYSTEM FOR OBTAINING A HOLOGRAPHIC RECORD ON FILM OF A HIGH SPEED PROJECTILE, WHEREIN A COHERENT BEAM OF RADIATION IS DIVIDED INTO A REFERENCE BEAM, A DIRECT SIGNAL BEAM AND A REFLECTED SIGNAL BEAM. THE REFERENCE BEAM IS DIRECTED WITHOUT MODULATION TO A PHOTOGRAPHIC PLATE AND THE DIRECT SIGNAL BEAM IS DIRECTED TO THE PHOTOGRAPHIC PLATE AFTER TRANSMISSION BY THE PROJECTILE. THE REFLECTED SIGNAL BEAM IS DIRECTED INTO A BEAM STEERER WHICH ALLOWS THE SYNCHRONOUS TRACKING OF THE PROJECTILE WITH THE REFLECTED SIGNAL BEAM. ON REFLECTION FROM THE PROJECTILE THE REFLECTED SIGNAL BEAM IS INCIDENT ON THE PHOTOGRAPHIC PLATE. AS THE INCLUDED ANGLE BETWEEN THE REFERENCE BEAM AND THE REFLECTED SIGNAL BEAM CHANGES, MULTIPLE IMAGES OF THE TARGET WILL BE STORED IN THE THICK EMULSION OF THE PHOTOGRAPHIC PLATE.

TL;DR: In this paper, a cylindrical crystal is stored in an annular layer and the annular layers are stacked to increase the storage capacity of the crystal by rotating the crystal about its axis.
Abstract: Holographic data is stored in a cylindrical crystal by directing a signal beam with data encoded therewith axially through an end face of the crystal, which signal beam interferes with a reference beam directed radially through the cylindrical side surface of the crystal. By rotating the crystal about its axis, numerous holograms are recorded therein an annular layer and by indexing the crystal axially the annular layers are stacked to further increase the storage capacity of the crystal. The holograms are read from the crystal by focusing a reference beam therethrough in a radial director for diffraction with the stored holograms to produce a defracted reference beam which emerges axially from the crystal. The diffracted reference beam is then read with a detector in the form of a CCD camera.

TL;DR: In this article, a multichannel unbalanced homodyning method was proposed for measuring the density matrix of a single-mode optical field in the photon-number representation, combining the signal beam and the local oscillator by a hightransmittance beam splitter.
Abstract: Multichannel unbalanced homodyning is proposed for measuring the density matrix of a single-mode optical field in the photon-number representation. Combining the signal beam and the local oscillator by a hightransmittance beam splitter, the interfering field is detected using multichannel photocounting. The density matrix is determined by direct statistical sampling of the coincident events recorded for various values of the local-oscillator phase. The usefulness of the method is demonstrated by computer simulations of measurements including error estimations.
