TL;DR: In this paper, the authors measured Young's modulus and microhardness as a function of porosity for pastes of silica fume-cement blends made with silica-fume contents of 0, 10 and 30 per cent at w/(c+sf) ratios of 0.25 and 0.45.

TL;DR: In this paper, an experimental investigation has been carried out to assess the effectiveness of the use of high-performance concrete (HPC) and galvanized steel in reducing reinforcement corrosion, and the results showed that HPC reduced chloride ion penetration significantly.

TL;DR: In this article, the effectiveness of a new type of alkali activator is studied, which is a product of silica fume, and the results obtained showed that the activator was a highly effective substance for the alkali activation of the combinations of Portland cement, Silica Fume and blast furnace slag, and slag alone.
Abstract: The effectiveness of a new type of alkali activator is studied. The activator is a product of silica fume. The results obtained showed the silica fume activator as a highly effective substance for the alkali activation of the combinations of Portland cement, silica fume and blast furnace slag, and slag alone. The positive effect of activator is based on the intensification of the production of calcium silicate hydrates and the densifying of the forming pore structure of the activated binder.
