TL;DR: In this article, a number of new desiccant materials have been proposed which have the potential to improve the performance of desiccants being regenerated at low temperature, such as superadsorbent polymer and zeolite materials.
Abstract: A number of new desiccant materials have been proposed which have the potential to improve the performance of desiccant wheels being regenerated at low temperature. Desiccant wheels containing two such desiccant materials (zeolite and superadsorbent polymer) were compared with a conventional silica gel desiccant wheel. The superadsorbent polymer desiccant wheel achieved greater dehumidification than the silica gel wheel when dehumidifying high relative humidity air with low temperature (50 °C) regeneration air. The temperature of dehumidified air exiting the polymer wheel was also lower. The zeolite desiccant wheel was generally less effective at dehumidifying air and had a higher pressure drop.

TL;DR: Effective sample pretreatment procedures based on solid-phase extraction (SPE) for multiresidue determination of seven neonicotinoid insecticides in agricultural products were investigated, and the average recoveries were excellent, with the exception of nitenpyram.
Abstract: Effective sample pretreatment procedures based on solid-phase extraction (SPE) for multiresidue determination of seven neonicotinoid insecticides in agricultural products were investigated. After extraction with acetone and concentration, the insecticides in aqueous sample extracts were transferred into organic solvent phases with a Chem Elut SPE cartridge. Finally, the eluate from the cartridge was cleaned up with a SPE cartridge packed with graphitized carbon black and aminopropyl silica gel, which showed a higher cleanup efficiency than the classical silica gel SPE cartridge. Seven insecticides were separated on a reversed-phase C18 column and a gradient system of methanol and phosphate solution based on high-performance liquid chromatography. The established multiresidue determination has been applied to several artificially spiked agricultural samples, with the result that the average recoveries were excellent, with the exception of nitenpyram. The limit of detection of the method ranged from 0.01 to 0.03 mg/kg for the insecticides.

TL;DR: In this article, an empirical correlation between the 129Xe NMR chemical shift and the parameters of the porous structure of a number of silica gels is characterized by adsorbed xenon.
Abstract: The porous structure of a number of silica gels is characterized by 129Xe NMR of adsorbed xenon. On the basis of experimental data for the samples with well defined structure, an empirical correlation between the 129Xe NMR chemical shift and the parameters of the porous structure is proposed. The energetic parameters of xenon adsorption have been obtained from the temperature dependence of the chemical shifts. The possibilities and limitations of 129Xe NMR spectroscopy of adsorbed xenon for studying the porous structure of silica gel are discussed.

TL;DR: A chiral stationary phase (CSP) prepared by bonding (+)-(18-crown-6)-2,3,11,12-tetracarboxylic acid to silica gel was successfully employed in resolving various racemic amines and amino alcohols including therapeutically active compounds such as amphetamine, phenylethanolamine, octopamine and norepinephrine as mentioned in this paper.
