TL;DR: In this paper, a Josephson arbitrary waveform synthesizer based on overdamped Josephson junction arrays (JJAs) using optoelectronics and a liquid helium free compact cryocooler was developed.
Abstract: In order to establish a quantum ac voltage standard at NMIJ/AIST, we have developed a Josephson arbitrary waveform synthesizer based on overdamped Josephson junction arrays (JJAs) using optoelectronics and a liquid helium free compact cryocooler. We have succeeded in the generation of sine waves at 60 Hz and 152.6 kHz. To verify the performance of the system, two different types of JJAs with different characteristic frequencies have been developed. An application to a quantized voltage noise source for Johnson noise thermometry is also discussed, with experimental results.

TL;DR: An acoustic well logging system employs a sine wave tone burst generator which drives a bender-type transmitter in a borehole logging tool to sequentially produce acoustic compressional and tube waves as discussed by the authors.
Abstract: An acoustic well logging system employs a sine wave tone burst generator which drives a bender-type transmitter in a borehole logging tool to sequentially produce acoustic compressional and tube waves. A sine wave tone burst is selectively swept or fixed in frequency between 10 kHz and 1.5 kHz to generate a constant frequency compressional wave and below 1.5 kHz to generate a constant frequency tube wave. The constant frequency of the compressional wave along a particular subsurface formation interval is characteristic of the rock material of such subsurface formation interval.

TL;DR: The invented inverter comprises high frequency inversion bridge, high frequency chain transformer, cycle converter, LC alternating current filter, DSP kernel control circuit, MOS tube drive circuit, detection feedback circuit and auxiliary power supply as discussed by the authors.
Abstract: The invented inverter comprises high frequency inversion bridge, high frequency chain transformer, cycle converter, LC alternating current filter, DSP kernel control circuit, MOS tube drive circuit, detection feedback circuit and auxiliary power supply. DSP pure digital control technique is adopted in the invention so as to omit analog circuit such as generation and comparison circuit of triangular and sine wave, analog PID adjuster. The invention has advantages of high-speed computational capability of DSP and powerful integrated peripheral equipment providing features of integrated control, high-integrated level, reduced size and volume, light weight and simple structure.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors considered simply supported edge conditions, for which the buckling modes consist of integer numbers of half sine waves in the two perpendicular directions, and showed that the lowest buckling mode in biaxial compression has a single half wave in an effectively short direction, or in both directions if the plate is effectively nearly square.
Abstract: Simply supported edge conditions are considered, for which the buckling modes consist of integer numbers of half sine waves in the two perpendicular directions. This note con siders the usual design case of specified load ratios. The lowest buckling mode in biaxial compression is shown to have a single half wave in an effectively short direction, or in both directions if the plate is effectively nearly square. The tension/compression case has a single half wave in the tension direction. The number of multiple half waves can be ap proximately determined to minimize numerical search computations.

TL;DR: A control scheme of an integrated power quality compensator, which employs an active rectifier to work simultaneously as an active power filter to decrease current harmonics, is proposed.
Abstract: A control scheme of an integrated power quality compensator, which employs an active rectifier to work simultaneously as an active power filter (APF) to decrease current harmonics, is proposed. The employed rectifier is based on a capacitor-clamped configuration to produce multilevel pulsewidth modulation waveforms which result in low voltage stress and low conduction loss on the power switches. The proposed active rectifier is controlled to track the supply current to be a sinusoidal wave with low current harmonics. The advantages of the proposed control scheme are high power factor, low current harmonics, no complicated calculations for current harmonics elimination, and no dedicated APF needed for harmonic elimination. The experimental results are used to verify the validity and effectiveness of the proposed control scheme.
