TL;DR: The magnetic properties of 1 and 2 were investigated, showing the existence of ferromagnetic interaction between the Co(II) atoms within the trinuclear subunit.
Abstract: A three-dimensional (3D) coordination polymer, [Co3(L)2(BTEC)(H2O)2]·2H2O [1, HL = 3,5-di(imidazol-1-yl)benzoic acid, H4BTEC = 1,2,4,5-benzenetetracarboxylic acid], with tfz-d topology has been hydrothermally synthesized. The framework of 1 has high thermal stability and exhibits single-crystal-to-single-crystal (SCSC) transformations upon removing and rebinding the noncoordinated and coordinated water molecules. X-ray crystallographic analyses revealed that the coordination geometry of Co(II) changes from octahedral to square pyramid upon dehydration, accompanying the appearance of one-dimensional (1D) open channels with dimensions of 2.0 × 2.8 A. The dehydrated form [Co3(L)2(BTEC)] (2) exhibits highly selective adsorption of water molecules over N2, CH3OH, and CH3CH2OH, which could be used as sensors for water molecules. Furthermore, the magnetic properties of 1 and 2 were investigated, showing the existence of ferromagnetic interaction between the Co(II) atoms within the trinuclear subunit.

TL;DR: In this paper, the key factors influencing microwave dielectric loss are examined and a comparison is made between single crystals and polycrystalline analogues, for temperatures between 20 and 300 K.
Abstract: The key factors influencing microwave dielectric loss are examined. A comparison is made between single crystals and polycrystalline analogues. Measurements of the temperature dependence of microwave dielectric losses in various materials are reported, for temperatures between 20 and 300 K. Single crystal and polycrystalline TiO2, LaAlO3, MgO and Al2O3 are considered. The temperature dependence of dielectric losses of certain single crystals (MgO and Al2O3) are found to be in good agreement with the theory of intrinsic losses for temperatures above 100 K. At lower temperatures losses due to defects and grain boundaries dominate. The absolute value of the loss predicted by theory is considerably lower than measured values.

TL;DR: In this paper, the magnetic properties of hexagonal Fe 2 P single crystal are studied by the measurements of magnetization, susceptibility, thermal expansion and electrical resistivity along the principal crystallographic axes.
Abstract: The magnetic properties of hexagonal Fe 2 P single crystal are studied by the measurements of magnetization, susceptibility, thermal expansion and electrical resistivity along the principal crystallographic axes. It is found that the saturation magnetization per molecule and the Curie temperature are 2.94 µ B and 208.6 K, respectively, and the anisotropy constant K 1 is 2.32×10 7 erg/cm 3 at 4.2 K, which is considerably larger than the values in 3d-transition compounds. The thermal expansion and the electrical resistivity show discontinuous changes at the Curie temperature indicating that the ferromagnetic to paramagnetic transition of Fe 2 P is accompanied by the first-order transition due to magnetoelastic effects. The exchange striction obtained from the measurement of thermal expansion is discussed on the basis of the theory of Bean and Rodbell.

TL;DR: In this paper, the catalytic reaction between CO and O2 on a Pt (110) surface is investigated by residual gas analysis for different partial pressures of CO and o2 and various temperatures.
Abstract: The catalytic reaction between CO and O2 on a Pt (110) surface is investigated by residual gas analysis for different partial pressures of CO and O2 and various temperatures. The surface cleanliness of the Pt crystal is monitored by Auger electron spectroscopy. The results of the reaction study are generally in agreement with previous studies for polycrystalline Pt catalysts. The temperature dependence of the formation rate of CO2 exhibits a maximum whose position depends on the composition of the gas phase. At T=215°C two different rate laws are valid. For PO2>PCO the rate of CO2 formation is proportional to PO21.1PCO−0.6, while for PO2>PCO it is proportional to PO20.25 PCO0.75. These observations support the idea that the reaction obeys an Eley-Rideal mechanism in the pressure and temperature range investigated, and the results are evaluated accordingly. The influence of segregated Si on the CO oxidation reaction is investigated and found to be small.
