Abstract: The Taxiway Navigation and Situation Awareness (T-NASA) system is a prototype augmented reality commercial airline cockpit display suite developed to increase efficiency and enhance situation awareness (SA) during airport surface taxi operations. The T-NASA system consists of a head-up display (HUD) and an electronic moving map (EMM), which allow for the display of navigation information using augmented reality techniques. The T-NASA HUD, an egocentric augmented reality display, uses "scene-linked symbology" (Foyle et al., 1996), derived from a set of theoretically-derived and experimentally-validated principles to enhance local guidance and route awareness. The EMM, is an exocentric perspective display that enhances route and global awareness. The principles for enhancing situation awareness in augmented reality systems are reviewed.

Abstract: Space situational awareness (SSA) is an essential and integral piece of space operations. Although the U.S. military's Space Surveillance Network (SSN) is currently the single best source of SSA in the world, it does not provide the level of SSA currently needed to support space operations. The lack of geographical sensor distribution and coverage outside of the continental U.S., particularly in the Southern Hemisphere, is a significant limitation of the SSN. There exist a large number of individual sensors across the globe and smaller sensor networks which already provide some level of SSA data to various users, and could also provide data to support the U.S. need for SSA. These sensors are being developed for a variety of missions, including space surveillance, missile warning, missile defense and testing, and scientific applications.

Abstract: Higher levels of the JDL model call for prediction of future development and awareness of the development of a situation. Since the situations handled by Command and Control systems develop by actions performed by opposing agents, pure probabilistic or evidential techniques are not quite sufficient tools for prediction. Game theoretic tools can give an improved appreciation of the real uncertainty in this prediction task, and also be a tool in the planning process. We review recent developments in game theory and apply them in a decision support tool for Command and Control situation awareness enhancements.
