TL;DR: This paper presents a new 2D object recognition system that is highly robust to partial occlusion, deformation and perspective change, and applicable to 3D tasks.
Abstract: This paper presents a new 2D object recognition system. The object representation used by the system is rotation, translation, scaling and reflection invariant. The system is highly robust to partial occlusion, deformation and perspective change. The last makes it applicable to 3D tasks. Color information can be ignored as well as combined with form representation. The boundary of an object to be recognized doesn’t need to be path-connected. The time demand to learn a new object doesn’t depend on the number of objects already learned. No object segmentation prior to recognition is needed. To evaluate the system the 3D object library COIL-100 was used.

TL;DR: A way of cooperative control with multi-recognition tools that can communicate with the machine much more naturally and effectively and higher recognition rate compared with a single HCI tool is accomplished.
Abstract: Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) is the vital technology of Virtual Reality The control using several different HCI tools together provides a natural and effective method of human-computer interaction This paper provides a way of cooperative control with multi-recognition tools The separate tools, including speech recognition tools, hand gesture recognition tools, posture recognition tools, are developed firstly Then assign the cooperation program receives the recognition result sent from the three independent tool through UDP protocol A neural network that fits the habits of the operator is trained Process the three recognition results using the trained BP neural network Higher recognition rate compared with a single HCI tool is accomplished Operators can communicate with the machine much more naturally and effectively

TL;DR: The present paper tackles the problem of shape recognition for deformable objects like human hands using modern classification techniques derived from artificial intelligence.
Abstract: The recognition of humans and their activities from video sequences is currently a very active area of research because of its many applications in video surveillance, multimedia communications, medical diagnosis, forensic research and sign language recognition. Our system is designed with the aim to precisely identify human gestures for Irish Sign Language (ISL) recognition. The system is to be developed and implemented on a standard personal computer (PC) connected to a colour video camera. The present paper tackles the problem of shape recognition for deformable objects like human hands using modern classification techniques derived from artificial intelligence.
