Abstract: : Two programs were designed to assist the investigator of sleep in reducing polygraphic data to useful statistical forms. The first program accepts simple statements of sleep stage and the polygraph page numbers on which the stage occurs, and converts these to an ordered table describing an individual sleep data file. Several optional input formats are also permissable. Summary statistics on the file are provided, both as print-outs and as punch card outputs. A tape for input to a general purpose plotting program is written. A second program combines punch card outputs from one or more groups of files and provides descriptive statistics on these groups.
