TL;DR: A sleep timer function for consumer electronics equipment automatically turns off the equipment after a predetermined time interval as mentioned in this paper, which is similar to the one described in this paper, but with the exception that the controller resets the count of the sleep timer to the maximum period, thus deferring the automatic turn off.
Abstract: A sleep timer function for consumer electronics equipment automatically turns off the equipment after a predetermined time interval. During the final two minutes of the sleep time interval, the sleep timer circuitry gradually decreases the volume or provides a visual indication that automatic turn off is imminent. The reception of any modulated infrared (IR) signal, transmitted from any source, during the timer period is interpreted by the sleep timer function controller as an indication that the use is still awake. In response, the controller resets the count of the sleep timer to the maximum period, thus deferring the automatic turn off of the equipment.

TL;DR: A sensible body vibrator has a vibration unit mounted in a human body support such as a bed or a chair and adapted to generate mechanical vibrations upon receipt of a low-frequency signal.
Abstract: A sensible body vibrator has a vibration unit mounted in a human body support such as a bed or a chair and adapted to generate mechanical vibrations upon receipt of a low-frequency signal. The inputting of various kinds of signals (including a low-frequency signal from an acoustic device, a pleasant sleep signal for inducing the user to pleasant sleep, an awakening signal for generating a signal at a preset time, a signal for transmitting a routine time schedule to particularly the deaf and dumb, a security signal for detecting and announcing the entry of an intruder entering a house through a door or a window or by climbing a wall, an emergency signal for announcing an emergency situation at the time of an emergency such as a fire, and similar other signals) is selectively controlled. The emergency signal is given priority over the other signals when the emergency signal is input.

TL;DR: A sleep timer function for consumer electronics equipment automatically turns off the equipment after a predetermined time interval as mentioned in this paper, where the reception of any modulated infrared (IR) signal, transmitted from any source (128), during the timer period is interpreted by the controller as an indication that the user is still awake.
Abstract: A sleep timer function for consumer electronics equipment automatically turns off the equipment after a predetermined time interval. During the final two minutes of the sleep time interval, the sleep timer circuitry (113, 132, 134) gradually decreases the volume or provides a visual indication that automatic turn off is imminent. The reception of any modulated infrared (IR) signal, transmitted from any source (128), during the timer period is interpreted by the sleep timer function controller as an indication that the user is still awake. In response, the controller resets the count of the sleep timer (113) to the maximum period, thus deferring the automatic turn off of the equipment.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed to reduce power consumption by operating the only wake-up frame detection circuit when each slave transmitter is waited and operating the entire circuit when a wakeup frame is detected.
Abstract: PURPOSE: To reduce power consumption by operating the only wake-up frame detection circuit when each slave transmitter is waited and operating the entire circuit when a wake-up frame is detected. CONSTITUTION: When a slave transmitter 5n is turned on, a sleep stand-by mode is selected. The first-step amplifier of an O/E converter 8 and a wake-up detection circuit 13 start operating. When the wake-up frame is detected by the photo diode of the first-step amplifier, each circuit is actuated in the prescribed timing, and a timer 14 is operated. Immediately after the prescribed count-up of the timer 14, it is returned to a sleep stand-by mode. Thus, the power consumption can be reduced. Moreover, by delaying the timing from a waiting state to an operational state in the order of slave number, unnecessary waiting time can be reduced. COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO&Japio

TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed to improve comfortableness by securing a quick warming operation via the action of an operation switch, operating a sleep starting switch when going to bed, and performing the control against the cooling at dawn for a fixed period suitable for the set time before getting up.
Abstract: PURPOSE: To improve comfortableness by securing a quick warming operation via the action of an operation switch, operating a sleep starting switch when going to bed, and performing the control against the cooling at dawn for a fixed period suitable for the set time before getting up. CONSTITUTION: An operation switch 3, a sleep starting switch 4 commanding the start of a sleep operation, and an off timer starting the counting via the action of the operation switch 3 are provided. A quick warming operation is secured via the action of the operation switch 3. If the sleep starting switch 4 is operated when a person goes to bed, the off timer starts counting from this time even if the timing to go to bed is drifted from the operation start, and the operation is continued for the period set by the off timer. The control against the cooling at dawn is performed for a fixed period suitable for the set time before the person gets up. The quick warming operation when the person goes to bed and the operation against the cooling at dawn before the person gets up are satisfactorily performed, and comfortableness is improved. TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed to reduce power consumption by providing the title circuit with a sleep signal generating circuit, a latch circuit, and a synchronous control circuit, which can suspend a clock inputted to a CPU during the idle state of the CPU.
Abstract: PURPOSE:To reduce power consumption by providing the title circuit with a sleep signal generating circuit, a latch circuit and a synchronous control circuit, and suspending clock inputted to a CPU during the idle state of the CPU CONSTITUTION:The CPU 10 receives a HOLD signal 11, executes holding processing and outputs an HLDA signal 15 to allow the latch circuit 101 to latch a previously set sleep signal 100a by the signal 15 Then, the synchronous control circuit 102 outputs the sleep signal as a control signal 102a for a gate circuit 103 in synchronism with a processor clock 13 Even when the sleep signal generating circuit 100 has set up a sleep mode at an optional time, transfer to the sleep mode does not prevent the CPU 10 from executing the holding processing Consequent, a clock in the CPU 10 can be suspended during the idle state of the CPU 10 and the power saving of the personal computer can be attained

TL;DR: In this article, the existence of a timer block TMB is checked when a clock processing handler is activated, and when the condition of the subject task is checked, when the sleep condition is obtained, the task is activated and task processing is finished.
Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent a system from being turned 4to a dead lock condition by preventing clock processing, which is defined to a task, from being executed when the specified condition of the task is registered. CONSTITUTION:When a clock processing handler is activated, the existence of a timer block TMB is checked. When execution is continued, a debugger deletes the task control block TCB address of a task A from a registration table and the task A is returned to a ready condition. The task A restarts the execution from an interrupted spot and issues a slp-tak. At this time, the task A is turned to a sleep condition. Since a task B is turned to a wait condition as well, there is no task to execute the execution again. Next, when the condition of the subject task is checked and when the sleep condition is obtained, the subject task is activated and task processing is finished. A CPU is allocated to the task A and the task A issues an snd-msg again. Then, the message is sent to the task B.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors proposed a temperature reducing means for resetting a set temperature so as to slightly reduce it, where a heating pad is held at the set required temperature, so that comfortable sleep will be obtained.
Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain comfortable speed by providing the title electric heater with a temperature reducing means for resetting a set temperature so as to slightly reduce it. CONSTITUTION:The electric heater has a 1st timer T1 for counting up OFF time, e.g. 8 hours, after energizing is started a 2nd timer T2 for counting up time, e.g. 90 seconds, for holding a set temperature for a prescribed time and a 3rd timer T3 for counting up a quick heating time, e.g, 40 minutes, for quickly heating the heater independently of the set temperature. When a power supply switch is turned on before going to bed, a heating pad is held at the set required temperature, so that comfortable sleep will be obtained. When the 2nd timer generates an output after the lapse of 90min., a control part 16 reads out a temperature level set up in an operation part 17 and resets a reference voltage generating circuit 10 so that a temperature level lower than the current temperature level by one step, i.e. a 4th temperature level 35 deg.C, is set up. Thereby a body temperature may be slightly dropped at this point of time, so that sweat generation will be suppressed.
