TL;DR: In this paper, the fatigue and friction estimation of slewing rings, based on rolling bearing models and classical theories like Hertz, Lundberg-Palmgren, and Miner fatigue cumulative damage, is presented.
Abstract: Modern Wind Turbines adjust their blades orientation at different wind speeds for power control and optimum energy production. A big slewing ring about 2 metres diameter placed at each blade root, allows the blade orientation withstanding highly variable heavy loads, vibrations, continuous rotating oscillations and severe ambient conditions. The blade pitch system design and control strategy in a WTG is strongly conditioned by the load dependant friction of the bearing that shall be accurately defined for cost-effective designs. The pitch system is also the main brake of the rotor requiring high reliability for their components under fatigue loads, and in particular for the slewing rings due to its inherent difficulties for maintenance or replacement. The present methodology allows the fatigue and friction estimation of slewing rings, based on rolling bearing models and classical theories like Hertz, Lundberg-Palmgren, and Miner fatigue cumulative damage. This approach simulates the stress supported by each ball in the contact with the raceways, estimates the bearing friction due to these contact stresses, and the fatigue life of the overall bearing.Copyright © 2008 by ASME

TL;DR: In this article, a quenching tool for a raceway of a small-diameter slewing bearing outer circle is presented. But it is not shown how to use the quenched tool in the real world.
Abstract: The utility model discloses a quenching tool for a raceway of a small-diameter slewing bearing outer circle. The quenching tool comprises a bracket. A bearing block and a horizontally arranged rolling bearing are fixed on the bracket. A first driven gear and a second driven gear are sequentially arranged on the bracket from top to bottom in a rotating way, and are meshed with each other. The quenching tool comprises the slewing bearing outer circle. A gear ring outside the slewing bearing outer circle is meshed with the first driven gear. The end face of the slewing bearing outer circle is attached outside the rolling bearing. A third driven gear is arranged at the front end of a rotating shaft of the second driven gear. A driving gear meshed with the third driven gear is arranged on the bracket in a rotating way. A motor is arranged on one side of the bracket. An output shaft of the motor is in transmission connection with a rotating shaft of the driving gear. A displacement sensor is arranged on one side of the slewing bearing outer circle, and is electrically connected with the motor through a control loop. The quenching tool is rational in structure, and has a good quenching effect; and the rotation of the motor is controlled by the displacement sensor and the control loop, so that unnecessary repeated rotation is avoided, and the cost is lowered.

TL;DR: In this article, a three-row roller and a cutting roller are fixed on a large slewing bearing capable of bearing various loads, and the transmission reliability is improved, and processing difficulty of a rocker arm casing is also reduced.
Abstract: The invention belongs to the field of coal-mining machines and particularly relates to a rocker arm and roller transmission structure of a roller coal-mining machine. By simplifying a transmission chain structure, the transmission efficiency is improved, thereby furthering achieving energy saving and emission reduction. A roller is in transmission connection with a roller through a three-row roller slewing supporting bearing, an inner ring of the three-row roller slewing supporting bearing is fixed on the rocker arm, and a cutting roller is fixed on an outer ring of the three-row roller slewing supporting bearing. The rocker arm and roller transmission structure mainly amplifies the reference diameter of an external gear of the three-row roller slewing supporting bearing, and input torque of a driving gear can be greatly reduced under the condition that the equal cutting force of the roller is reached. Simultaneously, the transmission ratio of a dead axle gear train is improved, the transmission chain structure is simplified (transmission of a primary planetary gear, transmission of a primary deal axle gear and three-stage coordinating idle gear transmission are omitted), the roller is directly fixed on a large slewing bearing capable of bearing various loads, the transmission reliability is improved, and the processing difficulty of a rocker arm casing is also reduced.
