TL;DR: In this paper, the authors describe the development of the multibeam receiving antenna array with digital beamforming (DBF) prototype using National Instruments modular instruments of PXI standard.
Abstract: This article describes development of the multibeam receiving antenna array with digital beamforming (DBF) prototype using National Instruments modular instruments of PXI standard. Development of the prototype and researching its characteristics is a continuation of earlier research carried out by National Research University of Electronic Technology. Some problems associated with DBF were examined using the array prototype. The first iteration of the research included amplitude and phase calibration and its influence on antenna radiation pattern. The next iteration included test of radiation pattern formation with its minimum in the direction of electromagnetic interference using adaptive algorithms. In practice antenna array prototype with digital beamforming has shown the possibility of using the digital beamforming technology for signals spatial filtering and detection. In the result of the research software that implements the necessary algorithms for digital signal processing was developed and required computing capacity was estimated.

TL;DR: The promise of improved network performance through the management of radiation patterns and more astute statistical signal processing is discussed, and several outstanding challenges must be met for this vision to become reality.
Abstract: This article examines candidate technologies that can jointly and rapidly improve the performance of wireless networks. Specifically, the rise of pragmatic reconfigurable antenna technology tailored to mobile devices offers new possibilities in establishing reliable communication links while limiting interference to nearby users. The operation of these systems can be enhanced by incorporating orientation information, which is readily available on most smart devices, into the allocation of wireless resources. Altogether, this article discusses the promise of improved network performance through the management of radiation patterns and more astute statistical signal processing. It also outlines several outstanding challenges that must be met for this vision to become reality.

TL;DR: A design suitable for TD smart antenna measurement system that can realize in single user or multiple users at the same time and the TD base station set up calls link of multi-point synchronous signal intensity measurement.
Abstract: With the rapid development of China's TD-SCDMA system, how to qualitative and quantitative to judge intelligent antenna electromagnetic radiation pollution is a problem to be solved. Due to the special working principle of smart antenna, the second generation communication system spectrometer and field intensity meter measurement method is a complicated and difficult to operate. This paper introduces a design suitable for TD smart antenna measurement system: this system can realize in single user or multiple users at the same time and the TD base station set up calls link of multi-point synchronous signal intensity measurement. The measurement results of our system are very close to the measurement results of spectrometer field intensitys and can reasonable reflect TD stations around the extent of the electromagnetic radiation. This method of our system is easy, cheap and maneuverable

TL;DR: The analysis of spatial processing effectiveness for the two variants of smart-antenna is studied: multi-beam antenna array with beam switching and adaptive antenna array and the recommendations for practical application are formulated.
Abstract: The analysis of spatial processing effectiveness for the two variants of smart-antenna is studied: multi-beam antenna array with beam switching and adaptive antenna array. Efficiency is measured by the output signal-to-noise ratio. The boundary values of efficiency for arbitrary noise conditions are set. The recommendations for practical application are formulated.
