TL;DR: In this paper, an operator is provided with a continuous display, on a single convenient monitor, of the extent of progress, status, etc., of each camera in a multi-camera system, during a microprocessor controlled automatic setup procedure.
Abstract: An operator is provided with a continuous display, on a single convenient monitor, of the extent of progress, the status, etc., of each camera in a multi-camera system, during a microprocessor controlled automatic setup procedure. The display is superimposed on a video picture generated by the selected camera, which corresponds to one of various video signals selectable by the operator.

TL;DR: This effort seeks to determine whether expensive, elaborate setups are necessary, or indeed, beneficial, to camera calibration, and whether a high complexity camera model leads to improved accuracy.
Abstract: Since a large number of vision applications rely on the mapping between 3D scenes and their corresponding 2D camera images, an important practical consideration for researchers is, what are the major determinants of camera calibration accuracy and what accuracy can be achieved within the practical limits of their environments. In response, we present a thorough study investigating the effects of training data quantity, measurement error, pixel coordinate noise, and the choice of camera model, on camera calibration results. Through this effort, we seek to determine whether expensive, elaborate setups are necessary, or indeed, beneficial, to camera calibration, and whether a high complexity camera model leads to improved accuracy. The results are first provided for a simulated camera system and then verified through carefully controlled experiments using real-world measurements

TL;DR: In this article, a camera system including a high-quality lens which is selectively attachable to a mobile device, effectively replacing the mobile device's integral lens, is described, which can leverage existing features of the mobile devices, such as the display, battery, storage, and sharing functions.
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed herein that generally involve a camera system including a high-quality lens which is selectively attachable to a mobile device, effectively replacing the mobile device's integral lens. The attachable camera system can leverage existing features of the mobile device, such as the display, battery, storage, and sharing functions, allowing the camera system itself to be a relatively simple, lightweight, portable, and inexpensive device. The ability to selectively attach and detach the camera system from the mobile device allows the camera system to be removed when it is desired to maintain the mobile device's favorable weight, size, and ergonomic characteristics. When high quality image or video capture or increased camera flexibility and functionality is desired, the camera system can be attached to the mobile device.

TL;DR: The feasibility of the multilevel data fusion approach is demonstrated with experimental results of the "vehicle classification" case study and the software framework for embedded online data fusion, called I-SENSE, is presented.
Abstract: In the proposed project we are working towards multi-sensor smart cameras, i.e., we augment vision-based cameras by additional sensors such as infrared and audio and, thus, transform a single smart camera into an embedded multi-sensor node. Our software framework for embedded online data fusion, called I-SENSE, which supports data fusion on different levels of data abstraction is presented. Further our fusion model is presented with the focus set on four main parts, namely (i) the acoustic and visual feature extraction, (ii) feature based data fusion and the feature selection algorithm, (iii) feature based decision modeling based on support vector machines (SVM) and (iv) decision modeling based on a modified Dempster-Shafer approach is discussed. Finally we demonstrate the feasibility of our multilevel data fusion approach with experimental results of our "vehicle classification" case study.

TL;DR: In this paper, a dual-mode wireless camera hotspot and method is proposed, which comprises capturing data comprising at least one of video and audio from a camera, and further provides a wireless access point to allow access to a network.
Abstract: A versatile dual mode wireless camera hotspot and method. The method comprises capturing data comprising at least one of video and audio from a camera. The camera has a transmitter and receiver integrated with the camera. The camera further provides a wireless access point to allow access to a network.
