TL;DR: In this paper, a security system user interface comprising a graphical display, a communication link, a memory, a camera and a display controller is presented for display on the graphical display.
Abstract: A security system user interface comprising a graphical display, a communication link, a memory, a camera and a display controller The camera image is converted for display on the graphical display, the latter being used for security system control and viewing the camera image The interface is best located near an entrance inside a secured premises, while the camera is arranged to monitor visitors outside the secured premises at the entrance The camera can be connected directly to the user interface or indirectly using a data communications link of the security system interconnecting security detectors to a control panel

TL;DR: In this article, a digital camera capable of displaying a list of a plurality of images has a selection assist function for assisting an operator in selecting a desirable image from the images listed.
Abstract: According to the present invention, a digital camera capable of displaying a list of a plurality of images has a selection assist function for assisting an operator in selecting a desirable image from the images listed. As an example of the selection assist function, the digital camera can analyze plural images captured under different shooting conditions to display an image that seems optimum (or images that seem improper) in a way different from the other images. As another example of the selection assist function, the digital camera can have a function for displaying images while scaling up them around an area that can be an image selection point (e.g., focusing point or a point selected by the operator).

TL;DR: A smart camera aimed at security and law enforcement applications for intelligent transportation systems with capabilities for automatic detection and recognition of selected parameters of cars, as well as different aspects of the system efficiency.
Abstract: The paper presents a smart camera aimed at security and law enforcement applications for intelligent transportation systems. An extended background is presented first as a scholar literature review. The smart camera components and their capabilities for automatic detection and recognition of selected parameters of cars, as well as different aspects of the system efficiency, are described and discussed in detail in subsequent sections. Smart features of make and model recognition (MMR), license plate recognition (LPR) and color recognition (CR) are highlighted as the main benefits of the system. Their implementations, flowcharts and recognition rates are described, discussed and finally reported in detail. In addition to MMR, three different approaches, referred to as bag-of-features, scalable vocabulary tree and pyramid match, are also considered. The conclusion includes a discussion of the smart camera system efficiency as a whole, with an insight into potential future improvements.

TL;DR: The 3D range camera and the control algorithm that combines the camera with stereo audio to help guide people around objects, including the detection of low hanging objects typically undetected by a white cane are described.
Abstract: The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has recently studied a new 3D range camera for use on mobile robots. These robots have potential applications in manufacturing, healthcare and perhaps several other service related areas beyond the scope of this paper. In manufacturing, the 3D range camera shows promise for standard size obstacle detection possibly augmenting existing safety systems on automated guided vehicles. We studied the use of this new 3D range imaging camera for advancing safety standards for automated guided vehicles. In healthcare, these cameras show promise for guiding the blind and assisting the disabled who are wheelchair dependent. Further development beyond standards efforts allowed NIST to combine the 3D camera with stereo audio feedback to help the blind or visually impaired to stereophonically hear where a clear path is from room to room as objects were detected with the camera. This paper describes the 3D range camera and the control algorithm that combines the camera with stereo audio to help guide people around objects, including the detection of low hanging objects typically undetected by a white cane.

TL;DR: In this paper, a simulation device for displaying a 3D model of a robot system on a display device and simulating a robot and an image pickup camera is presented. But the simulation device is limited to a single robot.
Abstract: A simulation device displays a three-dimensional model of a robot system on a display device and simulates a robot system including a robot and an image pickup camera. The simulation device includes a display device for displaying a three-dimensional virtual space on a screen, a camera position determination unit for determining an installation position of the image pickup camera based on an image pickup range designated by the operator, optical characteristic information of the used image pickup camera, and required measurement precision, and a virtual image generator unit for generating a virtual image to be obtained by the image pickup camera based on the position of the image pickup camera in the three-dimensional virtual space and the optical characteristic information, thereby facilitating the determination of the suitable position of the image pickup camera and adjustment of the detection parameters.
