TL;DR: In this article, a camera control system which can immediately cope with control of a plurality of kinds of video cameras is presented. And a module for generating the camera control command is selected from at least one module on the basis of the information associated with the recognized kind of camera.
Abstract: It is an object to provide a camera control system which can immediately cope with control of a plurality of kinds of video cameras. At least one module for generating a camera control command corresponding to each kind of camera is stored. Information associated with a kind of camera serving as a control target is recognized. A module for generating the camera control command is selected from at least one module on the basis of the information associated with the recognized kind of camera.

TL;DR: A smart camera SoC hardware architecture with the proposed visual content analysis engine is first presented, which consists of dedicated accelerators and a programmable morphology coprocessor.
Abstract: In the next-generation visual surveillance systems, content analysis tools will be integrated. In this paper, to accelerate these tools, it is proposed to integrate a hardware content analysis engine into a smart camera system-on-a-chip (SoC). A smart camera SoC hardware architecture with the proposed visual content analysis engine is first presented. This engine consists of dedicated accelerators and a programmable morphology coprocessor. Stream processing design concept, frame-level pipelining, and subword level parallelism are employed together to efficiently utilize the bandwidth of the system bus and achieve high throughput. The implementation results show that, with 168 K logic gates and 40.63 Kb on-chip memory, a processing speed of 30 640 x 480 frames/s can be achieved, while the operations of video object segmentation, object description and tracking, and face detection and scoring are supported.

TL;DR: A substantially pocket-sized portable control device for a digital camera, comprising: a camera interface unit, a display unit for displaying images received from the digital camera and a control unit for defining control parameters for sending to the camera, and a user interface, for obtaining user input for applying settings to the control unit as mentioned in this paper.
Abstract: A substantially pocket-sized portable control device for a digital camera, comprising: a camera interface unit, a display unit for displaying images received from the digital camera, a control unit for defining control parameters for sending to the digital camera, and a user interface, for obtaining user input for applying settings to the control unit. The device allows screen-based data input (e.g. via stylus). Conveniently the device is a cellular telephone or a personal digital assistant.
