TL;DR: In this article, an intelligent receiver (e.g., a master "sink" node) trains, initializes, and manages one or more relatively low complexity camera sensor modules.
Abstract: Apparatus and methods for training, initializing, and managing a unidirectional, sink-driven A/V interface of a consumer electronics device. Since camera sensors do not have significant processing capability, the disclosed embodiments couple the camera sensors to a simplified source node as a camera assembly. In the described embodiments, an intelligent receiver (e.g., a master “sink” node) trains, initializes, and manages one or more relatively low complexity camera sensor modules. Various other refinements and simplifications include: (i) where link training is managed by the receiver of the link, not by the transmitter, and (ii) where training multiple links in the network is managed by a single receiver.

TL;DR: In this paper, a monitoring system for a self-service checkout system includes a component video camera, such as an RGB component camera or an analog component camera, coupled to the processor of a selfservice checkout terminal and operating to obtain a digital picture of an item during the self-checkout transaction.
Abstract: A monitoring system for a self-service checkout system includes a component video camera, such as an RGB component video camera or an analog component video camera. The component video camera is coupled to the processor of a self-service checkout terminal and is operative to obtain a digital picture of an item during the self-checkout transaction. Preferably, the component video camera is operative to obtain a digital picture of an item such as produce when the item is on a scale of the self-checkout terminal and being weighed. This provides a high probability that the customer is not blocking the component video camera. The self-service checkout terminal is in communication with a monitoring station via a network such that the monitoring station can view the digital picture and/or store the digital picture. The digital picture can then be associated with the purchase transaction in a data warehouse. An attendant at a monitoring station can review the picture of an item being weighed virtually at the moment the item is being weighed.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present an improved digital camera that enables a user to conveniently and accurately record video or pictures of the user himself, which is applicable to other digital video and still cameras.
Abstract: The present invention provides an improved digital camera that enables a user to conveniently and accurately record video or pictures of the user himself. In one embodiment of the invention, a digital camera comprises a camera body and a display panel detachably connected to the camera body. The display panel includes a remote control circuit that is configured to wirelessly operate the camera, so that a user can record any contents seen in the display panel. In another embodiment of the invention, the camera further includes a motor attached to the camera body, and the remote control circuit controls the motor to focus the lens on a desired subject. The remote control circuit includes a wireless communication interface that supports at least one of the following protocols: Bluetooth, Zigbee, IEEE 802.11 and infrared. The invention is applicable to b oth digital video and still cameras.

TL;DR: In this paper, a camera-based system for capturing images of a target area includes a boom assembly adapted to extend outwardly from a generally vertical surface, where at least one digital camera is mounted on the boom assembly at a location spaced from the surface.
Abstract: A camera-based system for capturing images of a target area includes a boom assembly adapted to extend outwardly from a generally vertical surface. At least one digital camera is mounted on the boom assembly at a location spaced from the surface. The at least one digital camera is oriented so that the field of view thereof encompasses a target area on the surface. A controller is in communication with the at least one digital camera. The controller conditions the at least one digital camera to acquire an image of the target area. The image acquired by the at least one digital camera is conveyed to the controller and is processed to form a digital image of the target area. The digital image is published automatically to allow the digital image to be accessed by a user through a web client application.

TL;DR: In this article, the camera device for use in measurement and synthesis of an image is capable of being used for accurate measurement and synthesizing even without suppressing variation in device characteristics, and a camera parameter storage is used to store camera parameters indicating characteristics unique to the camera devices.
Abstract: The camera device for use in measurement and synthesis of an image is capable of being used for accurate measurement and synthesis even without suppressing variation in device characteristics. A camera parameter storage means stores a camera parameter indicating characteristics unique to the camera device. A state sensing means senses a state of the camera device such as a temperature. A parameter output means externally outputs a camera parameter according to state information.
