TL;DR: A new, fully mobile, purely vision-based tracking system that works indoors in a prepared room, using artificial landmarks, and a novel sparse 3D model of the room for a spatial target representation and selection scheme which gains robustness are presented.
Abstract: Many applications of computer vision require camera pose in real-time. We present a new, fully mobile, purely vision-based tracking system that works indoors in a prepared room, using artificial landmarks. The main contributions of the paper are: improved pose accuracy by subpixel corner localization, high frame rates by CMOS image aquisition of small subwindows, and a novel sparse 3D model of the room for a spatial target representation and selection scheme which gains robustness.

TL;DR: A "stereo camera" which rapidly acquires the (x,y,z) locations of a large number of sample points on a surface which involves an active camera (coded-laser-beam-array projector), a passive camera (TV), and the software for pattern synchronization and analysis.
Abstract: We describe a "stereo camera" which rapidly acquires the (x,y,z) locations of a large number of sample points on a surface. The device works on the same triangulation principle as an ordinary stereo camera, but involves an active camera (coded-laser-beam-array projector), a passive camera (TV), and the software for pattern synchronization and analysis. The system involves (1) a single laser beam; (2) interference optics to transform the single beam into an array of laser beams; (3) a programmable electro-optic shutter which can block or transmit various subsets of the laser beams in the array; (4) a TV camera to view the environmental surfaces illuminated by the laser beam array; and (5) a processor which controls the shutter, synchronizes the shutter with the TV camera, and decodes the contents of the TV images of the different coded patterns projected on the environment. The system is being developed for rapid biomedical surface mapping but can also be used in vision aid for the blind, robot vision, assembly-line inspection, data acquisition for 3-D pattern recognition, and the monitoring of large surfaces and volumes (dams, construction processes, security areas, etc.).

TL;DR: In this article, a local video conference system executing a video conference application, that lacks an ability or functionality to control a remote camera of a remote video conferencing system, can display video from the remote camera.
Abstract: A local video conference system executing a video conference application, that lacks an ability or functionality to control a remote camera of a remote video conference system, can display video from the remote video conference system. The local video conference system can also execute a controller application that can provide the local video conference system control of the remote camera. The controller application can receive user input that selects a region of multiple regions of a display window of the video conference application indicating a camera action for the remote camera, can determine a camera action based on the user input and the selected region, and can provide the camera action to the remote video conference system via a network. The remote video conference system can pan, tilt, and/or zoom the remote camera based on the camera action received from the controller application of the local video conference system.

TL;DR: In this paper, a camera sensor and associated image preprocessing circuitry are used to detect the presence of a user and to indicate the identity of the user, and the electronic device may receive the signals from the camera module and use the signals in implementing power saving functions.
Abstract: An electronic device may have a camera module. The camera module may include a camera sensor and associated image preprocessing circuitry. The image preprocessing circuitry may analyze images from the camera module to perform motion detection, facial recognition, and other operations. The image preprocessing circuitry may generate signals that indicate the presence of a user and that indicate the identity of the user. The electronic device may receive the signals from the camera module and may use the signals in implementing power saving functions. The electronic device may enter a power conserving mode when the signals do not indicate the presence of a user, but may keep the camera module powered in the power conserving mode. When the camera module detects that a user is present, the signals from the camera module may activate the electronic device and direct the electronic device to enter an active operating mode.
