Abstract: This invention relates to a method for treating the surface of stainless steel to improve the adhesion of paints and lacquers applied thereto. An aqueous solution of trisodium phosphate is applied to the stainless steel followed by rinsing and thereafter applying a hot aqueous solution of sodium dichromate and calcium fluoride and again rinsing.
