TL;DR: In this paper, a sulfurized olefin of improved solubility in lubricating oil is made by reacting sulfur monochloride with a monoolefin (e.g. isobutylene) to form an adduct which is reacted with sodium sulfide, sodium hydrosulfide, sulfur and alkyl mercaptan (in an aqueous alcohol reaction medium).
Abstract: A sulfurized olefin of improved solubility in lubricating oil is made by reacting sulfur monochloride with a monoolefin (e.g. isobutylene) to form an adduct which is reacted with sodium sulfide, sodium hydrosulfide, sulfur and alkyl mercaptan (e.g. tert-butyl mercaptan) in an aqueous alcohol reaction medium.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors studied electrochemical behavior in buffered neutral media containing sodium sulfide and mixtures of sodium chloride and sodium sulfides using potentiodynamic techniques complemented with scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive x-ray analysis (EDXA) to obtain information on pitting.
Abstract: This work studied electrochemical behavior in buffered neutral media containing sodium sulfide and mixtures of sodium chloride and sodium sulfide using potentiodynamic techniques complemented with scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive x-ray analysis (EDXA) to obtain information on pitting. The presence of sodium sulfide hinders oxide growth and decreases the amount of ferric oxide formed which leads to a complex sulfide/oxide film. The presence of the sulfide/oxide film on the surface reduces the breakdown resistance as a result of chloride ions shifting the breakdown potential toward more negative values.

TL;DR: In this paper, a method for synthesizing low-color high-purity fiber-grade polyphenylene sulfide resins is presented. But the method is not suitable for low-colour fiber-grained resins.
Abstract: The invention discloses a method for synthesizing low-color high-purity fiber-grade polyphenylene sulfide resin. According to the invention, sodium sulfide and p-dichlorobenzene are adopted as raw materials; N-methyl pyrrolidone, N,N-dimethyl acetamide, and the like are adopted as solvents; under the existence of a basic salt, through a four-step method comprising pre-polymerization, polymerization, chain extension and end-capping, the high-purity low-color fiber-grade polyphenylene sulfide resin is synthesized. By adjusting process parameters, polyphenylene sulfide average molecular weight and distribution index can be effectively controlled. Also, purification process can be simplified, and metal ion embedding can be reduced. Resin slice color is reduced, resin processing stability is improved, and resin performance is improved.

TL;DR: In this paper, the same authors used 10 widemouth glass-stoppered jars of 1 liter capacity to detect hydrogen sulfide in distilled water, containing sufficient sulfuric acid to lower the pH to about 4.
Abstract: tration at which the odor of hydrogen sulfide in water can be detected, the following technique was used. Ten wide-mouth glass-stoppered jars of 1 -liter capacity were partly filled with 800 ml of odor-free distilled water, containing sufficient sulfuric acid to lower the pH to about 4. The temperature of the water was about 25 °C. To five of these jars, equal quantities of a dilute sodium sulfide solution of

TL;DR: The reaction between 1,4,8,11,tetraazacyclotetradecanecopper(II) perchlorate and sodium sulfide gave a transparent amorphous CuS film supported on a polyethylene substrate as mentioned in this paper.
Abstract: The reaction between 1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradecanecopper(II) perchlorate and sodium sulfide gave a transparent amorphous CuS film supported on a polyethylene substrate. The surface electrical resistivity of the film was ca. 10 k Ω□ at 300 K and showed a metal-like temperature dependence down to 250 K.
