TL;DR: In this article, a convenient and inexpensive procedure for the synthesis of thieno[2,3-b]quinolines was devised, which can be easily converted to quinoline by using sodium sulfide in ethanol.

TL;DR: In this paper, an indirect colorimetric determination of 0.02510 µm for hexamminecobalt (III) ion in ammonium carbonate-nitrate solution is presented.
Abstract: In ammonium carbonate-nitrate solution, U (VI) forms an orange colored precipitate, {[Co(NH3)6]NO3}2UO2(CO3)3, with hexamminecobalt (III) chloride. The precipitate dissolved in diluted hydrochloric acid gives orange coloration due to hexamminecobalt (III) ion. In neutral or acidic solution the complex salt decomposes with sodium sulfide and yields cobaltous sulfide precipitate which is extractable with nitric acid.Utilizing these properties, the indirect colorimetric determination of 0.02510.0mg U (VI) in two different ways: measurement of absorbance at 473mμ for hexamminecobalt (III) ion and the colorimetric determination of Co (II) ion contained in the precipitate. For hexamminecobalt (III) photometry, disturbance of the method caused by the presence of Ca, Ni, Co, Cu, Pb, Cd, Fe, Bi and Th were studied. Furthermore, a radiometric determination was devised for the estimation of 0.0050.500mg U (VI) with the 60Co tagged precipitant.

19 Jul 1994TL;DR: In this paper, a method for the regeneration of a scavenging compound that has been reacted with hydrogen sulfide is described, which is accomplished through the use of calcium oxides and sodium hydroxide.
Abstract: A method is provided for the regeneration of a scavenging compound that has been reacted with hydrogen sulfide. Regeneration is accomplished through the use of calcium oxides and sodium hydroxide. Sodium sulfide is recovered from the regeneration process in a commercially useful form. Calcium oxides are also regenerated in the process, allowing for minimal or no chemical waste.

TL;DR: In this article, the role of hydrated sodium sulfide as a precursor for the iron-sulfur (Fe/S) catalyst formation was shown to be an excellent noncompetitive, multi-electron reducing agent.
Abstract: Unbalanced redox condensation reaction between o-nitroanilines and alcohols, leading to benzimidazole and quinoxaline heterocycles can be efficiently promoted and catalyzed by sodium sulfide (40 mol%) in combination with iron(III) chloride hexahydrate (1 mol%). Beside the role as a precursor for the iron–sulfur (Fe/S) catalyst formation, hydrated sodium sulfide was shown to be an excellent noncompetitive, multi-electron reducing agent.
