TL;DR: In this article, a crosslinkable silane-grafted chlorinated polyethylene is prepared by reacting a chlorinatedpolyethylene with an aminoorganosilane compound and then contacting the resulting product with water in the presence of a silanol condensation catalyst.
Abstract: PURPOSE: To crosslink a chlorinated polyethylene at normal temperature and pressure, by reacting the chlorinated polyethylene with an aminoorganosilane compound and, then, contacting the resulting product with water in the presence of a silanol condensation catalyst. CONSTITUTION: First, a crosslinkable silane-grafted chlorinated polyethylene is prepared by reacting a chlorinated polyethylene with an aminoorganosilane compound. The resulting silane-grafted chlorinated polyethylene is molded by a method such as extrusion. The extrudate can be crosslinked by contacting it with water in the presence of a silanol condensation catalyst. In this case, crosslinking can be effected satisfactorily even by the atmospheric moisture. It is also effective to mix the silane- grafted chlorinated polyethylene directly with a water-releasing compound and, then, mold the mixture. As the above water-releasing compounds, there can be mentioned sodium sulfate, magnesium sulfate and sodium sulfite. COPYRIGHT: (C)1982,JPO&Japio

TL;DR: In this article, B-form silica gel is added to a reaction solution between silver acetate, sodium sulfite and sodium thiosulfate so as to support a silver complex.
Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a method for producing an antimicrobial agent suitable for using in the form of a mixture with a synthetic resin and excellent in safety. CONSTITUTION:B-form silica gel [Average particle diameter is about 2000mum] is added to a reaction solution between silver acetate, sodium sulfite and sodium thiosulfate so as to support a silver complex on silica gel. The resultant mixture of the thiosulfato silver complex solution and silica gel is heated at 60 deg.C and a reduced pressure of <= about 3000Pa so as to evaporate the solvent components for further drying it. The resultant silver complex-supporting silica gel, methyl alcohol, tetraethoxysilane and ion-exchange water are put in a vacuum dryer and, after completion of hydrolysis of tetraethoxysilane at 60 deg.C, excessive water and alcoholic components are evaporated at 50 deg.C and a reduced pressure of <= about 3000Pa so as to apply a silica coating thereto. The obtained material is dried and crushed, thus producing the antimicrobial agent having about 60mum average particle diameter.

TL;DR: In this paper, a process and apparatus for treating concentrated spent liquor from a soda-based pulping process to recover sodium for reuse in the pulp process and to prevent the usual pollution of streams and air caused by the usual effluent from the pulping processes is described.
Abstract: A process and apparatus for treating concentrated spent liquor from a soda-based pulping process to recover sodium for reuse in the pulping process and to prevent the usual pollution of streams and air caused by the usual effluent from the pulping process. The process and apparatus comprises the following steps and apparatus. Concentrated spent liquor containing sodium is mixed with recycled finely-divided reactive alumina hydrate and formed into solid pellets by spraying the concentrated liquor-aluminum hydrate mixture onto a bed of recycled sodium aluminate furnace ash in an enclosed rotating container and tumbling the mixture and ash. The solid pellets are combusted and reacted by feeding the pellets through a furnace operating at a temperature below the fusion temperature of sodium aluminate and at a sufficiently high temperature to combust the organic portion of the pellets and react the sodium content thereof with the alumina to form additional sodium aluminate as a particulate unfused ash. The resulting furnace ash is pulverized and a portion thereof is recycled for subsequent reuse in the treating process. The remaining portion of the ash is dissolved in water to form a solution of sodium aluminate. The sodium aluminate solution is reacted with either sulphur dioxide or carbon dioxide or both to form sodium sulfite and/or sodium carbonate pulping chemical and alumina and alumina is separated for reuse in the treating process.
