TL;DR: In this article, a water-soluble ZnSe/ZnS core/shell quantum dot by photodegradation together with program-controlled microwave radiation method is presented.
Abstract: This invention discloses manufacture of water-soluble ZnSe/ZnS core/shell quantum dots by photodegradation together with program-controlled microwave radiation method. The method comprises the steps of: mixing zinc salt or zinc oxide with water-soluble thioglycollic acid in water phase, adding sodium selenium sulfite or potassium selenium sulfite formed by reaction of sodium sulfite or potassium sulfite with selenium powders, reacting to obtain ZnSe precursor solution, placing the solution in a glass tube for microwave radiation, controlling the microwave radiation by program to obtain ZnSe quantum dots, performing photodegradation to obtain water-soluble ZnSe/Zns core/shell quantum dots with a high fluorescence quantum efficiency. The method is completely operated in water phase, thus has such advantages as easy operation and low toxicity. The quantum dots manufactured have such advantages as high fluorescence quantum efficiency, high stability and good water solubility, and can be used as fluorescent labels and indicators for biological inspection and analysis.

TL;DR: In this paper, a 1 : 1 mixture of antioxidants Na2SO3 and C6H8O6 was found to substantially increase the antioxidant activity and stabilize the aqueous solutions of selenurea during up to five days.
Abstract: Spectrophotometric method was used to study the kinetics of the process in which aqueous solutions of selenurea of various compositions are oxidized. Significant differences between the stabilities of selenurea solutions were revealed in relation to the selenurea concentration and also to the acidity, or alkalinity of a medium. It was shown that the stability of selenurea solutions is affected by additives of various antioxidants: sodium sulfite Na2SO3, ascorbic acid C6H8O6, hydroxylamine chloride NH2OH·HCl, hydrazine hydrate N2H4·H2O, and tin chloride SnCl2·2H2O. It was found that using a 1 : 1 mixture of antioxidants Na2SO3 and C6H8O6 substantially raises their antioxidant activity and stabilizes the aqueous solutions of selenurea during up to five days. A hydro-chemical precipitation in the acetate—ethylenediamine reaction system in the presence of the antioxidants under study was used to obtain lead selenide films of stoichiometric composition with thicknesses of 230‒670 nm. With the Na2SO3 + C6H8O6, Na2SO3, C6H8O6, and SnCl2 antioxidants used to stabilize selenurea solutions, a tendency is observed toward a decrease in the lattice constants of PbSe films from 6.1531 ± 0.0003 to 6.1367 ± 0.0002 A, an increase in the share of nanosize particles, and rise in the PbSe energy gap width from 0.78 to 1.0 e V.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a method to efficiently purify taurine obtained by an organic synthetic method and useful as an antidote in high purity by treating taurines with a strongly acidic cation exchange resin.
Abstract: PURPOSE: To efficiently purify taurine obtained by an organic synthetic method and useful as an antidote in high purity by treating taurine with a strongly acidic cation exchange resin in purifying the taurine from a synthetic reaction mass. CONSTITUTION: After taurine is synthesized by an organic synthetic method the synthetic reaction mass containing taurine is treated with a strongly acidic cation exchange resin so to remove impurities to provide purified taurine. When a large amount of anions are contained as the impurities, preferably the synthetic reaction mass containing taurine is treated with the strongly acidic cation exchange resin and then treated with a weakly basic cation exchange resin. The treating temperature is preferably 10-70°C and the space velocity is preferably 0.5-5h -1 . Furthermore, organic synthesis of taurine is carried out, e.g. by reacting 2-chloroethylamine hydrochloride with sodium sulfite or reacting 2- bromoethylamine hydrobromide with sodium sulfite.
