TL;DR: This companion article discusses portability and optimization issues of the GEMM-based level 3 BLAS model implementations and the performance evaluation benchmark.
Abstract: This companion article discusses portability and optimization issues of the GEMM-based level 3 BLAS model implementations and the performance evaluation benchmark. All software comes in all four data types (single- and double-precision, real and complex) and are designed to be easy to implement and use on different platforms. Each of the GEMM-based routines has a few machine-dependent parameters that specify internal block sizes, cache characteristics, and branch points for alternative code sections. These parameters provide means for adjustment to the characteristics of a memory hierarchy.

TL;DR: This report gives detailed instructions on the use of BlockSolve95 and descriptions of a number of program examples that can be used as templates for application programs.
Abstract: BlockSolve95 is a software library for solving large, sparse systems of linear equations on massively parallel computers or networks of workstations. The matrices must be symmetric in structure; however, the matrix nonzero values may be either symmetric or nonsymmetric. The nonzeros must be real valued. BlockSolve95 uses a message-passing paradigm and achieves portability through the use of the MPI message-passing standard. Emphasis has been placed on achieving both good professor performance through the use of higher-level BLAS and scalability through the use of advanced algorithms. This report gives detailed instructions on the use of BlockSolve95 and descriptions of a number of program examples that can be used as templates for application programs.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors proposed a smart hard disk drive (sHDD) that can act as host and directly communicate with multimedia devices, such as digital camera, mp3 player, camcorder, etc.
Abstract: The present invention provides a smart hard-disk drive (sHDD). It can act as a host and directly communicate with multimedia devices. The sHDD offers true portability and provides a universal multimedia exchange platform (i.e. communicating directly with digital camera, mp3 player, camcorder, movie-playing device, etc.) The HDD integration breaks the traditional design barrier by integrating at least a portion of the HDD electronics onto the system motherboard.

TL;DR: The software structure of the plasma control system in use on the D III-D tokamak experiment is described, which is organized into a hierarchy that allows new control functions needed to support the DIII-D experimental program to be added easily without affecting previously implemented functions.
Abstract: The software structure of the plasma control system in use on the DIII-D tokamak experiment is described. This system implements control functions through software executing in real time on one or more digital computers. The software is organized into a hierarchy that allows new control functions needed to support the DIII-D experimental program to be added easily without affecting previously implemented functions. This also allows the software to be portable in order to create control systems for other applications. The tokamak operator uses an X-windows based interface to specify the time evolution of a tokamak discharge. The interface provides a high level view for the operator that reduces the need for detailed knowledge of the control system operation. There is provision for an asynchronous change to an alternate discharge time evolution in response to an event that is detected in real time. Quality control is enhanced through off-line testing that can make use of software-based tokamak simulators.
