TL;DR: In this paper, mixed oxides are formed by contacting gel particles containing a metal oxide or a metal compound decomposable to produce the metal oxide and an agent for imparting the property of gelling in the presence of a precipitating agent with a solution of a soluble compound of at least one other metal.
Abstract: 1286257 Mixed oxides UNITED KINGDOM ATOMIC ENERGY AUTHORITY 8 Oct 1969 [14 Oct 1968] 48692/68 Heading C1A Mixed oxides are formed by contacting gel particles containing a metal oxide or a metal compound decomposable to a metal oxide and an agent for imparting the property of gelling in the presence of a precipitating agent with a solution of a soluble compound of at least one other metal, the compound being decomposable to produce the oxide, and heating the gel particles to produce mixed oxide particles. The gel particles may be zirconia, contacted with uranyl nitrate; or thoria contacted with copper sulphate or nickel nitrate. After contact, the second metal may be fixed by contact with a base.
