TL;DR: In this article, a capacitive charge circuit was used to condition an electrical characteristic of the solenoid such that the conditioning is in response to a current slope parameter, defined as a change in the current after removal of an electrical charge to the soleneoid.
Abstract: The invention relates to a system and method for detecting a closing of a solenoid. The system includes a capacitive charge circuit electrically coupled to the solenoid. The capacitive charge circuit conditions the current flow through the solenoid to increase the current in response to the closing of the solenoid. The invention also relates to a system and method that includes detecting a current through the solenoid and determining a current slope characteristic. The current slope characteristic is a function of the current and time. The method also includes conditioning an electrical characteristic of the solenoid such that the conditioning is in response to a current slope parameter. The current slope parameter defines a change in the current after removal of an electrical charge to the solenoid.

TL;DR: In this article, an electrical oscillator means operated by a program timer is used to control the cyclical opening and closing of a solenoid valve, which functions to control application and relief of pneumatic pressure to a plurality of additive metering pumps.
Abstract: Additives used in a laundering operation are automatically injected into the wash load by the use of a programmed electropneumatic system. An electrical oscillator means operated by a program timer is used to control the cyclical opening and closing of a solenoid valve. The solenoid valve functions to control the application and relief of pneumatic pressure to a plurality of additive pneumatic metering pumps, and additional solenoid valves also operated by the program timer determine which of the metering pumps are actuated by the cyclical pneumatic pressure pulses obtained from said cyclically operating valve.

TL;DR: In this paper, the magnetic flux density is mainly dependent on the gap size between two pipes, the position of the exciting coil that generates the magnetic field, the exciting current in the coil, and the relative permeability of the pipes.
Abstract: The magnetically impelled arc butt (MIAB) welding process uses a rotating arc as its heat source and is known as an efficient method for pipe butt welding. The arc in the gap of the pipe butt joints is rotated along the circumferential weld line by the electromagnetic force resulting from the interaction of the arc current and the magnetic field in the gap. The electromagnetic force is determined by the magnetic flux density in the gap, the arc current and the arc length (i.e. gap size). In particular, the radial magnetic flux density is an important factor in arc rotation and weld quality. This paper proposes a two-dimensional finite element model for the analysis of magnetic flux density distributions in the MIAB welding process. The magnetic flux density is mainly dependent on the gap size between two pipes, the position of the exciting coil that generates the magnetic field, the exciting current in the coil, and the relative permeability of the pipes. Thus, the relations between the magnetic fl...

01 May 1989TL;DR: In this paper, a magnetron sputtering apparatus is described, which consists of a first solenoid coil for generating a first magnetic field, which is disposed on the back side of a sputtering target and a second soleneoid coil to generate a second magnetic field which exerts influences on the first field.
Abstract: A magnetron sputtering apparatus is herein disclosed, the apparatus comprising a first solenoid coil for generating a first magnetic field, which is disposed on a back side of a sputtering target and a second solenoid coil for generating a second magnetic field which exerts influences on the first magnetic field, which is disposed in the vicinity of the outer periphery of the sputtering target, the magnitude and direction of each current applied to the first and second solenoid coils being changed to continuously move a plasma ring formed on the surface of the sputtering target towards the radial direction, to thus contact and expand the plasma ring; and the magnitude and direction of each current applied to the first and second solenoid coils being appropriately set to a desired value to hold the plasma ring at a desired location in the radial direction for a desired time period. When sputtering is performed using this apparatus, the location of the plasma ring formed on the target surface in the radial direction can effectively be controlled over a sufficiently wide region.
