TL;DR: A solenoid attachment for a vehicle antilock brake system is described in this paper, which includes a coil pack housing (10) having leadframes connecting to a circuit board (22) of the electronic control unit (24).
Abstract: A solenoid attachment for a vehicle antilock brake system. The solenoid attachment includes a coil pack housing (10) having leadframes (12) electrically connecting to a circuit board (22) of the electronic control unit (24). The solenoid attachment also includes a plurality of solenoid assemblies (26). Each solenoid assembly (26) includes coil windings (48) and a bobbin (46) contained within a can (52). A retention ring (58), including retention snaps (60), is associated with each solenoid assembly (26) for removably retaining each solenoid assembly (26) in the coil pack housing (10). Each solenoid assembly (26) is further mounted to an elastomeric gasket (56) that both seals about an adjustment gap (53), open to the electronic circuit board (22), and biases the solenoid assembly (26) against its corresponding valve (40). A sealing mechanism (66, 98) is provided with each valve assembly (26) for sealing around an associated valve stem (42).

TL;DR: In this article, a substrate etching chamber has a substrate support, a gas supply to introduce a process gas into the chamber; an inductor antenna to sustain a plasma of the process gas in a process zone of the chamber, and an exhaust to exhaust the gas.
Abstract: A substrate etching chamber has a substrate support, a gas supply to introduce a process gas into the chamber; an inductor antenna to sustain a plasma of the process gas in a process zone of the chamber, and an exhaust to exhaust the process gas. A magnetic field generator disposed about the chamber has first and second solenoids. A controller is adapted to control a power supply to provide a first current to the first solenoid and a second current to the second solenoid, thereby generating a magnetic field in the process zone of the chamber to controllably shape the plasma in the process zone to reduce etch rate variations across the substrate.

TL;DR: In this article, a solenoid actuated pressure control valve includes a central passage extending axially through the coil and an armature is movable axially within the passage, magnetically attracted to the pole piece when the coil is energized.
Abstract: A solenoid actuated pressure control valve includes a solenoid coil having a central passage extending axially through the coil. An armature is movable axially within the coil passage to be magnetically attracted to the pole piece when the coil is energized. Fluid pressure at a supply port of the valve biases the armature to its opposite end limit of movement when the coil is deenergized. Various forms of valving arrangements are disclosed, in one of which valve heads are located on the opposite ends of the armature to engage either of opposed valve seats dependent on whether the coil is energized or not. In other arrangements, the armature engages a push rod to unseat one valve upon energization of the coil while closing a seond valve. The one valve is biased to its closed position by supply port pressure when the coil is deenergized, the push rod opening the other valve. The valves operate to connect a control port to a sump port when the coil is deenergized and to connect the control port to the supply port upon energization of the coil. One form of valve employs a diaphragm to hydraulically isolate the coil, pole piece and armature from the controlled fluid.

TL;DR: In this article, an apparatus for controlling a multi-cylinder internal combustion engine with partial cylinder switch-off mechanism which is switchable between all cylinders are operated and a partialcylinder operation mode in which operation of partial cylinders is suspended or resumed in a predetermined order with respect to all of the suspended cylinders irrespective of a rotational frequency of the engine.
Abstract: In an apparatus for controlling a multi-cylinder internal combustion engine with partial cylinder switch-off mechanism which is switchable between an all-cylinder operation mode in which all cylinders are operated and a partial-cylinder operation mode in which operation of partial cylinders is suspended, the operation of intake valves and exhaust valves is suspended or resumed in a predetermined order with respect to all of the suspended cylinders irrespective of a rotational frequency of the engine. There are provided a solenoid valve on an intake side and a solenoid valve on an exhaust side for switching input hydraulic pressures for hydraulically operated switching devices respectively on the intake side and on the exhaust side between the driving state and the drive-free state. At the time of switching the operation, one of the solenoid valves on the intake side and the exhaust side is driven in advance. The subsequent number of rotations of a crankshaft is counted. When the number of this counting has reached a predetermined value, the solenoid valve on the other side is driven.

TL;DR: In this article, a 6.6 kV single-phase fault current limiter (FCL) using a high-Tc superconducting coil as a limiting coil was developed.
Abstract: A 6.6 kV single-phase fault current limiter (FCL) using a high-Tc superconducting coil as a limiting coil was developed. The development is a preliminary step to investigate the feasibility of the FCL application for high-voltage transmission lines. The FCL is of the rectifier type and is mainly comprised of a limiting coil, a sub-cooled nitrogen cryostat with a cryocooler, and a rectifier bridge. The limiting coil, wound as a solenoid by Ag/Mn sheathed Bi-2223 tapes, has an inductance of 30 mH. It is immersed in a liquid nitrogen bath in the cryostat. A Gifford-McMahon cryocooler cools the cryogen below 77.3 K. A pressure regulator keeps the cryogen at an atmospheric pressure. The coil has a critical current of 70 A at 64 K and endures a 50 Hz overvoltage of 22 kV against the ground. In a fault current limiting test with a short-circuit generator, a short-circuit current of 12.5 kA was limited to 1.2 kA.
