TL;DR: In this paper, a cylindrical spray tower with a tapered lower part is used for the production of agglomerated products from a ring of burners in a spray tower.
Abstract: For the production of alkali polyphosphates, particularly alkali triphosphates, alkali phosphate solutions or suspensions are sprayed by one or more nozzles in a spray tower through a flame zone produced by a ring of burners. In addition, finely granular alkali polyphosphates, particularly alkali triphosphates, are introduced into the spray tower from above and distributed uniformly over the spray region of the nozzle or nozzles with the formation of agglomerated products. An installation for carrying out the method consists of a cylindrical spray tower (1) which is closed by a cover (2) and has a tapered lower part (3). The cover (2) is penetrated at its centre by a spray device (6) and by a plurality of burners (11) arranged concentrically around the feed pipe. Furthermore, the lower part (3) is penetrated by an obliquely upward-directed off-gas pipe (4). A device which passes through the cover (2) for the introduction of solid into the spray tower (1) is arranged concentric to and spaced from the spray device (6).
