Abstract: Wet flue gas desulfurization (WFGD) system is the core equipment for removing SO2 from coal-fired power plants, and it also has an important synergistic effect on the removal of selenium. However, the removal efficiency of Se across WFGD systems is not as expected, and it varies greatly in different coal-fired units (12.5-96%). In this study, a mathematical model was established to quantitatively describe the selenium migration behavior in WFGD spray towers, including the conversion of gaseous selenium to particulate selenium and the capture of gaseous SeO2 and particles by droplets. The calculation results show that the behavior of selenium in the spray tower can be divided into three stages: preparation, condensation, and removal. The condensation stage significantly affected the selenium distribution and its total removal efficiency. Furthermore, five factors which may affect the selenium behavior were investigated. Among them, the inlet particle size distribution and the droplet temperature had great impacts on the outlet selenium concentration, which may be the reason for the unstable selenium removal efficiencies. This study can help in understanding the migration process of selenium in WFGD spray towers and provide some guidance for the development of specific selenium control technologies.

Abstract: Based on the demand of sintering/pelleting flue gas ultra-low emission, a semi-dry method using a spray dryer absorber (SDA) combined with O3 oxidation was proposed for simultaneous removal of SO2 and NO. Effects of O3 injection site, O3/NO molar ratio, and spray tower temperature on the removal efficiencies were investigated. It was revealed that both desulfurization and denitrification efficiencies could reach to 85% under the conditions of setting O3 injection site inside of tower, O3/NO molar ratio 1.8, spray tower temperature 85°C, Ca/(S + 2 N) molar ratio 2.5 and slurry flow rate 300 mL/hr. CaSO3/Ca(OH)2 mixture slurry was used as absorbent to simulate operating conditions in iron and steel industry. The result shows that the addition of CaSO3 weakens both removal efficiencies. In addition, the reaction mechanism of simultaneous removal of SO2 and NO using SDA combined with O3 oxidation was proposed.

The rotary drier comprises a water source high-temperature heat pump, a spray tower and an air-cooled chiller unit. The water source high-temperature heat pump communicates with the barrel tail of the rotary drier through a high-temperature air pipe. The barrel head of the rotary drier communicateswith the bottom of the spray tower through an air outlet pipeline of the rotary drier. The top of the spray tower communicates with the bottom of the air-cooled chiller unit through a cold air outletpipeline. Abstract: The invention provides a spray tower and a method for processing VOCs by using the spray tower. The spray tower comprises a tower body, a packing layer, a defogging layer, a grating plate, a spray device, an air inlet and an air outlet, the defogging layer is located at the top of the tower, the packing layer is located in the tower body located below the defogging layer, the packing layer and thedefogging layer are correspondingly supported by the grating plate, the upper part of the packing layer is provided with the spray device, the air inlet is located in the tower body and below the packing layer, and the air outlet is located in the top of the defogging layer. The method comprises the steps that gas containing the VOCs is introduced into the spray tower through the air inlet, meanwhile an absorbent solution is sprayed to the packing layer by using the spray device, the gas penetrates through the packing layer, the absorption solution absorbs the VOCs and then is discharged, andafter removing the VOCs, the gas is discharged from the air outlet through the defogging layer. The provided method does not produce hazardous activated carbon waste, the cost is reduced, and the environment is protected.

Abstract: Background and Objective: Workplace air quality is a very important factor in community health, which is measured using airborne contaminants evaluation and measurement. One of these airborne pollutants in industries is ammonia gas. Spray towers are important components of air pollution control. This study aimed to investigate the effects of dilute sulfuric acid solution on the efficiency of ammonia removal in a spray tower. Materials and Methods: This study evaluated the rate of ammonia removal from the air stream using a spray tower with laboratory criterion by altering the liquid pressure and nozzles, as well as the inlet density. The volume of the used airstream was 3737.82 l/min; moreover, one, two, and three 20micron diameter nozzles were used with the dilute sulfuric acid solution. The data were analyzed in SPSS software (version 21) through one-way ANOVA. Results: An increase in the number of nozzles and washing liquid pressure of the spray tower increased the ammonia removal efficiency and enhanced the input load of the system which reduced the elimination efficiency (P<0.05). Conclusion: An increase in the number of nozzles, the operating pressure of the washing liquid, and the density of the pollutant gas lead to a higher level of spraying tower efficiency in terms of eliminating the ammonia gas from
