TL;DR: In this article, a closed multi-room fluidized bed sludge drying method is provided, which is a sludge-drying method having the advantages of simple equipment structure, convenient operation, strong sludge adaptability, high thermal efficiency, safety, continuity, stability, etc.
Abstract: A closed multi-room fluidized bed sludge drying method is provided, which is a sludge drying method having the advantages of simple equipment structure, convenient operation, strong sludge adaptability, high thermal efficiency, safety, continuity, stability, etc. After the mechanically dewatered sludge is mixed with the back-mixed sludge, the mixture is dried room by room in an inert particles multi-room fluidized bed dryer (3). The first room and the second room of the inert particles multi-room fluidized bed dryer (3) adopt inert particles (f) as heat storage medium. Gas from a cyclone separator (5) goes through a spray tower (7) and returns into an air heating unit (4) through a circulating fan (10). Part of dried sludge (e) at the lower part of the cyclone separator (5) enters the inert particles multi-room fluidized bed dryer (3) through the back-mixing in a mixer (2). Waste liquid from the bottom of the spray tower (7) enters a waste liquid circulating pool (8), with part of waste liquid circulating into the spray tower (7) and part into a sewage treatment system.

TL;DR: In this paper, the performance of venting devices in an industrial countercurrent spray tower during dust explosion using a CFD model and EN14491:2006 standard was evaluated. But the results of the calculations were limited to six configurations of safety vents located at the top and side walls of the dryer.
Abstract: The aim of the paper was to evaluate the performance of venting devices in an industrial counter-current spray tower during dust explosion using a CFD model and EN14491:2006 standard. Three-dimensional CFD simulations of dust explosion in the spray tower for six different configurations of safety vents located at the top and side walls of the dryer were carried out. In the calculations, in which dust was replaced with a flammable gas-air mixture, the following parameters of dust explosion were analyzed: reaction progress, maximum and average gas temperature, gas velocity, and pressure. Reduced pressures calculated according to EN 14991:2006 standard are close to maximum pressure obtained from CFD simulations for all analyzed spatial configurations of the safety vents, which proves that the CFD model can be used both to design explosion mitigation systems and to describe the mechanism of explosion propagation in the drying chamber. Results of the calculations allowed us to evaluate the performance of analy...

TL;DR: In this article, the balance of forces acting on droplets falling down inside a co- or counter-current spray tower was analyzed analytically for slurry droplet motion in the range of 400
Abstract: On the basis of the balance of forces acting on droplets falling down inside a co- or counter-current spray tower, a model of scrubber aerodynamic characteristics was developed. Relations between pressure drop caused by spray, droplet concentration and residence time distribution of the dispersed phase were found analytically for slurry droplet motion in the range of 400

TL;DR: In this article, a volatile organic compounds (VOCs) removal spray tower consisting of an empty cylindrical vessel and nozzles spraying an oil/water emulsion into the vessel was presented.
Abstract: This study outlines a volatile organic compounds (VOCs) removal spray tower consisting of an empty cylindrical vessel and nozzles spraying an oil/water emulsion into the vessel. Spraying an emulsion into a spray tower absorbs both lipophilic and hydrophilic compounds, facilitates oil transport, improves the interfacial area (oil coats water droplets) and increases the turbulent flow regime enhancing mass transfer. Toluene was chosen as the synthetic lipophilic pollutant. The choice of the organic absorbent, silicone oil (47v350 Rhordorsil ® ), was made by considering several properties: thermal and mechanical stability, non-biodegradable nature, insolubility in water and low value of Henry's constant. Gas–liquid mass transfer and the hydrodynamics of the gas–liquid contactor were thoroughly investigated. It was observed that emulsion spraying allowed the dual absorption of hydro- and lipophylic VOCs (efficiency around 90% for both) and strongly enhanced the liquid mass transfer coefficient. Finally, a model describing the efficiency of the process as a function of time was developed. The predicted values are in good agreement with the experimental results.
