TL;DR: In this paper, the authors proposed a method for the production of electrical devices from a metal strip electroplated with a conductive stripe of an alloy, where the stripe exhibited, upon stamping and forming operation, cracked areas.
Abstract: This invention is concerned with production of electrical devices comprising an electrodeposited conductive region free from cracking defects. In the production of a contact portion of the device from a metal strip electroplated with a conductive stripe of an alloy, the stripe exhibited, upon stamping and forming operation, cracked areas. Typically, the stripe coating on the metal strip, such as a copper bronze material, includes a layer of nickel, a layer of palladium alloyed with nickel, cobalt, arsenic or silver, and a flash coating of hard gold. The cracking defects were eliminated by subjecting the plated strip to an annealing treatment prior to the stamping and forming operation. After the heat-treatment, the stripe was free from cracks and separations between the successive layers.

TL;DR: A mechanical transfer press employs a plurality of paired self-supporting stroke doubling transfer/feed mechanisms, with each pair of transfer and feed mechanisms coupled to a cross bar, for sequentially transferring piece parts to a series of stamping stages in the press as mentioned in this paper.
Abstract: A mechanical transfer press employs a plurality of paired self-supporting, stroke doubling transfer/feed mechanisms, with each pair of transfer/feed mechanisms coupled to a cross bar, for sequentially transferring piece parts to a series of stamping stages in the press. Vacuum cups attached to the cross bar engage one or more piece parts for transferring the piece parts to the next stage. Each transfer/feed mechanism includes a lift/lower drive as well as a feed/return drive for positioning piece parts intermediate upper and lower dies of the press and for removing the cross bar and vacuum cups from the stamping stage prior to the stamping operation. Each pair of transfer/feed mechanisms is positioned above its associated stamping stage to facilitate access to and increase clearance from the dies. Each pair of transfer/feed mechanisms with its associated dies forms a press module which can be easily removed and replaced as well as individually adjusted in its feed/return and lift/lower distances and motion profile independent of other such modules. A programmable numeric controller is used to control press as well as transfer/feed mechanism operation.

TL;DR: In fact, despite its broad application in industry, the design of forming processes is still largely based on experimental techniques such as the use of circular grid systems (Keeler 1968) or forming limit diagrams (Hecker 1973, Keeler 1974) as mentioned in this paper.
Abstract: Stamping of sheet-metal parts by means of punches and dies is a standard manufacturing process. However, despite its broad application in industry, the design of forming processes is still largely based on experimental techniques, such as the use of circular grid systems (Keeler 1968) or forming limit diagrams (Hecker 1973, Keeler 1974).

TL;DR: In this paper, an elastomeric septum was placed across each die half between the blank and the die half so as to prevent plastic material from sticking to the die halves after stamping.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for stamping a blank of plastic material, such as a soap blank, into a shaped article, such as a soap bar. The apparatus and method uses a pair of mating die halves spaced apart from one another in order to receive the blank of plastic material. Thereafter, the blank of plastic material is stamped and shaped by closing the die halves so they are mating. The die halves are then opened so as to discharge the shaped article and receive a new blank of plastic material. The present invention contemplates placing an elastomeric septum across each die half between the blank and the die half so as to prevent plastic material from sticking to the die halves after stamping. It has been found that a septum made from latex works well.

TL;DR: In this article, the camera position is set over a holding frame and a marking at one side of the holding frame is displaced until the image of the camera on the picture screen is coincident with a line of a reticle, whereafter the camera is moved over a second marking, which is approximately aligned with the first marking, at the other end of the hold-frame and then the rear part of the held-frame is displaced at a right angle to the first direction of travel until the images of the second marking on the Picture Screen is coincid with that reticle
Abstract: In a method of setting flat elements in relation to a reference device, in particular stamping dies or the like, and for aligning embossing blocks relative to an embossing original outside a stamping machine by means of a camera and picture screen associated therewith, the camera position is set over a holding frame and a marking at one side of the holding frame and displaced until the image of the camera on the picture screen is coincident with a line of a reticle, whereafter the camera is moved over a second marking, which is approximately aligned with the first marking, at the other end of the holding frame and then the rear part of the holding frame is displaced at a right angle to the first direction of travel until the image of the second marking on the picture screen is coincident with that reticle line. In addition the stamping die is to be enclosed and parallelism is to be set relative to the first direction of travel by way of the reticle line; after setting of the stamping die, the embossing original is arranged over same, using a carrier plate provided with markings.

TL;DR: In this article, a tool of V-shaped cross-section following the punching of a round hole in the metal strip is used to form slots for handling and transport of components of differing cross-sectional areas.
Abstract: A component carrier (20) and method of manufacture and use includes stamping and forming of a metallic sheet metal strip with adjacent component holders (24, 36) each being formed by beams (26,38) defined by slots (30-34) arranged to grip components (12) for handling and transport; the beams being offset each from the other to allow deflection in the plane of the beams; and with several embodiments including slots arranged to produce a controlled deflection and receive components of differing cross-sectional areas. TL;DR: In this article, the impression press is used for stamping out or embossing in an automatic machine, where a bottom pressure plate and a top cover plate are used for the impression operation.
Abstract: The impression press is for cardboard sheets in particular, to be stamped out or embossed in an automatic machine. A stamping plate on a stamping tool accommodating the sheet has a closing frame resting on supports on the press frame. There are a bottom pressure plate and a top cover plate. The pressure plate (6) forms with the stamping plate (7) and frame (8) a unit extending for the full length and width of the press. this is pressed upwards against the fixed cover plate (21) with alignment and support plates (12, 17) for the impression operation. Toggle linkages (32, 33) at the sides between pressure plate and press frame (1) have arms (35,36) extending vertually upwards when extended, and are actuated by horizontal rams (39, 40) or spindles (39, 40). They and the rams or spindles are identical and on opposite sides, working in synchronism to press the unit evenly against the cover plate over the entire surface area. USE/ADVANTAGE - Cardboard impression press is simple and gives minimum power consumption.,

TL;DR: In this paper, a lead frame is stamped into sections dependent on the size of the required surface mounted devices, before enclosing each of the successive sections (33) in a plastics housing via an injection molding process.
Abstract: The method allows a lead frame to be stamped into sections (33) dependent on the size of the required surface mounted devices, before enclosing each of the successive sections (33) in a plastics housing via an injection moulding process. The latter is performed using linear rows of lead frame sections, the obtained housings then being separated before cutting to provide the side leads and bending of the obtained leads into the required shape. The displacement of the sections (33) after separation is not dependent on the housing size, so that only the first part of the mfg. line has to be modified for mfr. of different size devices. USE/ADVANTAGE - E.g. for just-in-time prodn. line. Allows use of universal machine group for mfr. of wide range of different device sizes.
