TL;DR: A lighting fixture includes one or more corner structures for connecting adjacent panels at their adjacent real or virtual corners or edges at predetermined angles to each other as discussed by the authors, which can be fabricated from sheet metal by cutting and stamping the corner structure according to a predetermined pattern.
Abstract: A lighting fixture includes one or more corner structures for connecting adjacent panels at their adjacent real or virtual corners or edges at predetermined angles to each other. The corner structures include sockets of which at least one includes a single flange member for adhering support on one side of lighting fixture panels with the other sockets each including at least a single flange member for adhering support on one side of lighting fixture panels. Adjacent ones of the sockets are attached to each other at cantilevered ends or at the bases of the flange limbs, or at combinations thereof. The corner structure can be fabricated from sheet metal by cutting and stamping the corner structure according to a predetermined pattern.

01 Apr 2003TL;DR: In this article, a mathematical-based simulation of the stamping operation under specified engineering stamping conditions for a specified part is used to create an engineered draw-in map comparing selected locations on the peripheral edge of the stamped part with corresponding locations of its original sheet metal blank.
Abstract: Sheet metal forming is a manufacturing process in which flat sheet metal is drawn into a die cavity to form a product shape. Draw-in amount is the single most important stamping index that controls all forming characteristics (strains and stresses), formability failures (splits, wrinkles) and surface quality (distortions) on a panel. Adaptation of a new die set for repetitively stamping sheet metal parts to a part design specification is simplified by using a math-based simulation of the stamping operation under specified engineering stamping conditions for the specified part. The stamping simulations are used to create an engineered draw-in map comparing selected locations on the peripheral edge of the stamped part with corresponding locations on the peripheral edge of its original sheet metal blank. The resulting map of sheet metal draw-in dimensions reflect suitable displacements of the metal sheet between the binder ring and binder surface of the female die member at all such locations as the punch member of the die set executes its stamping operation. The engineered draw-in dimensions for a simulated part identify specific locations for adjustment of the binder ring/binder surface system in adapting the die set for production of parts.

TL;DR: In this article, a middle-duty and heavy-duty automobile knuckle stamp forging extruding compound technology overcomes the disadvantages of low material utilization and large device investment of the traditional production technology.
Abstract: A middle-duty and heavy-duty automobile knuckle stamp forging extruding compound technology overcomes the disadvantages of low material utilization and large device investment of the traditional production technology, utilizes flexibility of preforming by a stamping hammer and structure characteristic of a press extrusion die and adopts stamping hammer production technology and press extrusion compound technology. The main technical scheme includes a series of technical measures of vertically splitting of blank material by mould with V-shaped cutting edge and locally enclosed structure, preforging of cavity damping stripe, finish forging of locally enclosed structure, hot extrusion forming of steering space and the like, parameter requirements and corresponding moulds and devices. The invention has the characteristics that device investment of stamping hammer production technology is small, structure is simple, and equipment manufacturing period is short; production technological flowis reasonable and processing is easy; and the invention also has the characteristics that product quality is good and productivity is high; and material utilization is obviously higher than that of any original knuckle processing technology and production cost is greatly reduced.

TL;DR: A structural design system for 3D drawing dies based on functional features using a minimum set of initial information that can dramatically improve the design quality and can save both time and costs with excellent design quality is described.
Abstract: This paper describes a structural design system for 3D drawing dies based on functional features using a minimum set of initial information. In addition, it is also applicable to assign the functional features flexibly before accomplishing the design of a solid model for the main parts of a drawing die, such as upper die, lower die, and blank holder. The initial information includes blank sizes, work strokes, die faces, punch open lines, and press data. The proposed system integrated the design knowledge of drawing die into functions of 3D computer-aided design (CAD) software to automate design and to shorten design time. This design system is constructed on a PC and integrated with a Pro/ENGINEER CAD system including feature selector, shape calculator, model generator, design coordinator, and user interface. The proposed system is demonstrated using the example of designing a drawing die for the roof panel of a vehicle within 1 h. The results reveal that it can dramatically improve the design quality and can save both time and costs with excellent design quality.
