Machine check architecture execution environment for non-microcoded processor

Abstract: A technology for implementing a method for a machine check architecture environment. A method of the disclosure includes obtaining an occurrence of an error. The occurrence of the error causes a non-microcoded processing device to enter an error monitoring state. The method further processes the error using a dedicated memory portion for the error monitoring state while the non-microcoded processing device is in the error monitoring state. The error monitoring state is dedicated to error processing. The method further determines information associated with the error. The information associated with the error is in a predefined format.

The use of Flow Models for Automated Plant Diagnosis

Abstract: Automatic, computerized diagnosis can be based on several different search strategies, e.g. a search for a match between a pattern of measured data and some stored symptom patterns, or a search to locate a change in the system’s functional state with reference to a stored model of normal or specified plant state. The latter strategy has a number of basic advantages: it is independent of the prediction and analysis of specific faults and events; the reference for search, the normal state, can be derived from actual plant operation by the computer; the strategy can be based on invariate relations such as conservation laws; etc.

Moving information between computing devices

Abstract: A computer-implemented method for moving information between computing devices includes capturing a digital image of a display of a first computing device using a camera of a second computing device, transmitting, to the first computing device, data that corresponds to the digital image; analyzing the transmitted data on the first computing device to determine whether the digital image matches a current display of the first computing device, and using the analysis to cause one of the first or second computing devices to invoke an application and match a state of an application that is executing on the other of the first or second computing devices.

The State of Patenting at Research Institutions in Developing Countries: Policy Approaches and Practices

Abstract: By granting universities and public research organizations (PROs) the rights to their own intellectual property (IP) - patents, copyrights, trademarks, utility models, industrial designs - derived from statefinanced research, and allowing them to commercialize their results, governments seek to accelerate the transformation of scientific discoveries into industrial applications, and to strengthen collaborative ties between the universities and industries. This study reviews the experience of advanced countries and discusses the opportunities and challenges offered by patents to foster technology transfer from government funded research institutions in developing countries. It presents a review of policy frameworks and recent policy changes aimed to foster academic patenting and technology transfer in low- and middle-income countries. It then analyzes patenting activities by universities and PROs and compares these trends with respect to high-income countries. This analysis is complemented with an assessment of the current state of patenting and technology commercialization practices in a selected group of technology transfer offices (TTOs). We finally discuss policy implications and the challenges developing countries face to build effective technology transfer systems and take full benefit of patents and other intellectual property rights.

Context-based state change for an adaptive input device

Abstract: Various embodiments of systems and methods to implement a context-based state change for an adaptive input device are provided. For example, a method is disclosed that may include receiving a state input indicating a change in a system state, changing adaptive input device data in response to the state input, the adaptive input device data including one or more of image data or adaptive input device mapping data, and adjusting an adaptive input device display state using the adaptive input device data. Adjusting the adaptive input device display state may include one or more of displaying the image data on an adaptive input device display or adjusting an adaptive input device mapping state according to the adaptive input device mapping data.
