TL;DR: A new power cost model for state encoding is proposed and encoding techniques that minimize this power cost for two- and multilevel logic implementations are described, compared with those that minimize area or the switching activity at the present state bits.
Abstract: The problem of minimizing power consumption during the state encoding of a finite-state machine is addressed. A new power cost model for state encoding is proposed, and encoding techniques that minimize this power cost for two- and multilevel logic implementations are described. These techniques are compared with those that minimize area or the switching activity at the present state bits. Experimental results show significant improvements.

16 Jan 1997TL;DR: In this paper, a micro-code sequencer with a state machine controller (14) and an instruction memory (24) for executing instructions and branches is described. But it does not specify the branch conditions.
Abstract: A micro-code sequencer apparatus (10) and method includes a state machine controller (14) and an instruction memory (24) for executing instructions and branches. The branch conditions for each state are stored in the state machine controller (14) whereas reprogrammable calculation instructions are stored in instruction memory (24). The instruction memory (24) is accessed by a program counter (20) which receives the decoded state information to determine the location of its instruction. A processor (30) processes the instruction and sends the output to a next state decoder (32) which determines the next state based on the branch conditions.

14 Nov 2012TL;DR: In this paper, a power control manager includes a set of control registers storing individual control bits, a power switch for each power domain and a programmable microprocessor, which controls the digital state of individual bits within the control registers thereby controlling the ON and OFF state of the corresponding power domain.
Abstract: An electronic system is disposed on a single integrated circuit including a plurality of power domains and a power control manager. Each power domain may be independently powered. The power control manager includes a set of control registers storing individual control bits, a power switch for each power domain and a programmable microprocessor. The programmable microprocessor controls the digital state of individual bits within the control registers thereby controlling the ON and OFF state of the corresponding power domain.

28 Feb 2003TL;DR: In this article, a system and method of protecting data on a communication device are provided, where data received when the communication device is in a first operational state is encrypted using a first cryptographic key and algorithm.
Abstract: A system and method of protecting data on a communication device are provided. Data received when the communication device is in a first operational state is encrypted using a first cryptographic key and algorithm. When the communication device is in a second operational state, received data is encrypted using a second cryptographic key and algorithm. Received data is stored on the communication device in encrypted form.

TL;DR: In this paper, an electronic-circuit fabricating system where an inspecting machine is provided for each of working machines such as a mask printing machine and an electronic component mounting machine, to inspect a result of an operation of each working machine is described.
Abstract: An electronic-circuit fabricating system wherein an inspecting machine is provided for each of working machines such as a mask printing machine and an electronic-component mounting machine, to inspect a result of an operation of each working machine, and a monitoring device is arranged to receive information on monitoring-object portions of the working machines and information on the inspected result of the operation, to estimate the present state of each monitoring-object portion on the basis of these kinds of information, to obtain a tendency of change of the present state on the basis of the present state and stored past data, and to monitor the working machines so that the present state does not exceed a predetermined threshold state. When the present state of the monitoring-object portion has exceeded the thresholds state, the monitoring device estimates a cause for an abnormality of the working machine on the basis of the information on the working machine and the inspected result, and automatically compensates control data or activates a monitor or indicator to prompt the operator to implement a suitable treatment.
