Abstract: A mobile terminal is provided for achieving continuous program viewing/listening by appropriately switching between program reception through broadcasting and program reception through communication with a broadcast receiving function and a communication function working cooperatively. A receiver receives a program broadcasted from a broadcasting station. A reception state monitoring section monitors a state of receiving the broadcast program in the receiver. If the reception state is in a satisfactory state, the broadcast program is reproduced by the reproducing section. Upon determination by the reception state monitoring section that the reception state has been deteriorated, a program information generating section generates program information specifying the broadcast program being currently received by the receiver, and then gives the program information to a communication section. The communication section communicates with a program distribution center to receive program data corresponding to the generated program information by streaming. The program data received through communication is reproduced instead of the broadcast program by the reproducing section.

Abstract: An industrial controller monitors its state as comprised of selected inputs and outputs for a present time period and a previous time period. Each current state is compared to a previously acquired list of stored states to detect possible errors in inputs to the industrial controller and to find the closest match of the current state to a previously stored state. This "closest match word" is used to identify erroneous inputs to the industrial controller and to determine whether the controlled process must be halted. The closest match word may be substituted for the current state to permit the controlled process to continue.

Abstract: A method of optimizing the operation of a process so that desired products are produced at minimum cost. The process has a plurality of process components, with each component having a run status and an idle status. The process has available more than one input and produces more than one output. The process is controlled by a computer which is provided with a mathematical model of the process, which model includes a model of each of its components. The model for each process component includes a logic variable, which logic variable can have only two values, 0 and 1, and which represent the run or idle status of each process component. The computer, when predetermined conditions arise, solves a mixed integer equation to determine the optimum state of the process at a given time to produce the desired outputs, at desired rates and at minimum cost; and, in doing so, determines the value of the logic variable for each component. When a change of status of a process component from run to idle or idle to run is required to place the process in its optimum state, control signals to cause such change of status of process components are applied to such components.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for automatic, programmed, in-circuit testing of individual logic elements. A plurality of program-operated device connection switches are provided for making connections to the circuit under test. A plurality of program-operated drive circuits are provided for driving nodes of the logic element under test with controlled current, voltage and power to logical 1, logical 0, or a high impedence state. A measurement unit measures an output from the logic element under test. Testing programs are run in a program-controlled processor. The programs have subroutines which correlate with individual types of logic elements. Each logic element is examined, in circuit, independently of neighboring logic elements. A translation memory stores data for translating node addresses to facilitate topology independent subroutine processing of identical elements.

Abstract: A binary state machine system and method for REGEX processing of a data stream in an intrusion detection system are disclosed. The method comprises maintaining a state table. The state table is indexed such that inputs comprising a current state and a current character yield an output of a new state. The new state is related to an indication of an attack on a computer network. The method further includes maintaining the current state. An input stream comprising a plurality of characters is received. A first character of the input stream is selected as the current character. The current character and the current state are compared to the state table to generate a new state.
