TL;DR: In this article, an interferometric method for the determination of refractive indices is described which uses the shift in the optical path length when a parallel plate sample is rotated in one arm of a Michelson-type interferometer.
Abstract: An interferometric method for the determination of refractive indices is described which uses the shift in the optical path length when a parallel plate sample is rotated in one arm of a Michelson-type interferometer High precision is achieved by including appropriate numerical fit procedures in the evaluation of the experimental results We could prove that an accuracy of about 210−4 can be reached with the method Sample nonidealities (slight wedge or lens shape) have only moderate effects on the determination of the refractive index Measurements on LiNbO3 show that not only the extraordinary index of refraction varies with the Li/Nb ratio — which is in good agreement to earlier results —, but also the ordinary one

TL;DR: In this paper, a multilayer base structure was proposed for low emissivity coated panels, where a base layer having a low refractive index layer on a high this paper layer.
Abstract: Low emissivity coated panels can be fabricated using a base layer having a low refractive index layer on a high refractive index layer. The low refractive index layer can have refractive index less than 1.5, and can include MgF2, CaF2, SiO2, or BO. The high refractive index layer can have refractive index greater than 2.3, and can include TiOx, NbOx, or BiOx. The multilayer base structure can allow color tuning with enhanced transmission, for example, as compared to similar structures having single layer base layer.

TL;DR: In this paper, a detection device includes a photon sensor and a scintillator device optically coupled to the photon sensor, which is used to detect the presence of a photon.
Abstract: A detection device includes a photon sensor and a scintillator device optically coupled to the photon sensor. The scintillator device includes a scintillator material having a first refractive index, a first refractive material in a first annular space around the scintillator material, and a second refractive material in a second annular space around the first annular space. The first refractive material has a second refractive index. The second refractive index is less than the first refractive index. The second refractive material has a third refractive index. The third refractive index is less than the second refractive index.

TL;DR: In this paper, a reflection preventing layered product is provided by laminating a high refractive index layer and a low low index layer on a transparent plastic film, either directly or through another layer.
Abstract: A reflection preventing layered product is provided by laminating a high refractive index layer and a low refractive index layer, which has a refractive index lower than that of the high refractive index layer, in that order on a transparent plastic film, directly or through another layer. The low refractive index layer has a surface resistance of 1.0×10 10 ohm/square inch or less, a total light remittance of 94% or more, and a refractive index of 1.25-1.37. An optical member provided with the reflection preventing layered product is also provided. This optical member is preferably a polarizing plate with reflection preventing function used for a liquid crystal display. The reflection preventing layered product excels in transparency, mechanical strength, antistaticity, and reflection preventing characteristics.
