TL;DR: The phytochemical screening revealed the presence and absence of fifteen secondary metabolites (carbohydrates, tannins, saponin, flavonoids, alkaloids, quinones, terpenoids, glycosides, triterpenoid, phenols, coumarins, proteins, cardiac glycoside, steroids, phytosterols) from all the five extracts in varying concentrations.
Abstract: Sterculia foetida is a soft handsome woody tree with various pharmacological properties and they are most prevalently found in India, Thailand, Indonesia, Ghana, and Australia. The biochemically active compounds present in the plant possess good medicinal properties which have been already reported in several research papers. The present study was designed to screen the biochemically active compounds present in the leaves of Sterculia foetida. Qualitative analysis were performed using five different solvents (hexane, chloroform, methanol, ethyl acetate and aqueous) by using various standard protocol for each specific metabolite. The phytochemical screening revealed the presence and absence of fifteen secondary metabolites (carbohydrates, tannins, saponin, flavonoids, alkaloids, quinones, terpenoids, glycosides, triterpenoids, phenols, coumarins, proteins, cardiac glycosides, steroids, phytosterols) from all the five extracts in varying concentrations. Screening studies finally revealed the presence of high content of five secondary metabolites in methanol leaves extract when compared with other four solvent leaves extracts.

TL;DR: The results of qualitative phytochemical screening confirm the presence of tannins, phenols, steroids, cardiac glycoside and coumarin in the seed powder of Sterculia foetida L. extracted with 98% methanol as discussed by the authors.
Abstract: The present work phytoconstituents of the seed powder of Sterculia foetidaL. extracted with 98% methanol. The extracted phytochemical compound subjected to qualitative analysis, quantitative analysis, fluorescence analysis and GC-MS analysis. The results of qualitative phytochemical screening confirm that the presence of tannins, phenols, steroids, cardiac glycoside and coumarin. The significant amount of carbohydrate, protein, lipid, tannin and total phenol estimated through quantitative analysis of phytochemicals. The seed powder with the picric acid exhibited fluorescent yellow during fluorescence analysis undertaken with short ultra violet light at 254 nm. There are 13 bioactive compounds were identified through GC-MS analysis of seed powder of S. foetida L. These various bioactive compounds possess a wide range of activities such as disease control, pest control and microbicidal effect.

TL;DR: In this paper, the properties of bioester from Samrong oil (Sterculia Foetida) and characteristics of cellulose solid catalyst are described and a simple method for biodiesel production with a short reaction time and with moderate conversion rate is presented.
Abstract: In the present work, the properties of bioester from Samrong oil (Sterculia Foetida) and characteristics of cellulose solid catalyst are described. Heterogeneous catalyst was prepared via carbonization, sulfonation and purification giving solid catalyst as brown powder. Control parameters were time and temperature of carbonization and sulfonation reaction, ratio of sulfuric acid to solid material and weight of solid material. The optimized carbonization condition was 300 °C for 15 h. The sulfonation temperature was 150 oC for 18 h under N2 producing 7.99 mmol/g of acid concentration on solid catalyst. The acidity in water of solid catalyst after purification and drying was decreasing. The results of biodiesel production showed that the triglyceride could be converted to biodiesel directly by one-step sulfonic acid catalyzed process. The experimental condition of reaction process was 3.0 M of catalyst concentration with 9:1 M ratio of methanol to triglyceride at the temperature of 80 °C. This catalysts provided high reactivity of transesterification. The present procedure represents a simple method for biodiesel production with a short reaction time and with moderate conversion rate.

TL;DR: The use of Sterculic oil in the paint industry is discussed in this article, where the authors report the fatty acid composition of the kernel oil of the Sterculia foetida fruits from Indonesia and describe the experiments for the technological use of this oil for paints, alone or together with linseed oil in form of stand oils.
The Use of Sterculic Oil in the Paint Industry The author reports the fatty acid composition of the kernel oil of Sterculia foetida fruits from Indonesia, which contained 70% Sterculic acid and describes the experiments for the technological use of this oil for paints, alone or together with linseed oil in the form of stand oils. The opening of the cyclo-propene ring causes easy polymerisation of the oil and can serve for the binding of free fatty acids in the technical lacquer preparations etc.
