TL;DR: Design of new intelligent street light control system does not only achieve energy-saving power but also extend the service life of lighting equipment, and is controllable, ease of maintenance.
Abstract: In China, the methods of time-control, optical-control and time-optical-control are in common used to control street lamp, particularly in small and medium-sized cities. But due to the backward lighting control and administrative method, the precision is bad, and the result of work is also poor. Through many kinds of sensor combination sense environment's change, the multi-sensor exhibition can combinatory logically control the new intelligent street light controller system. And based on the degree of illumination control fixed time, in the automatic foundation fixed time, according to the multi-sensing exhibition survey data's special combination change, to control the street light nimbly; the system can also realize the automatic timing control, by pre-installing time to control street light switch and ultimately to control the street light time. Simultaneously the system can also realize the automatic sunshine control, which may act according to the actual determination of the sunlight degree of illumination and the degree of illumination control criterion and automatically control street light. On the basis of the merits of the regular control and the optical control, a new street smart controller is designed, with dual functions including timing control and automatic photoelectric control. It allows street lamps automatically lit in the evening, lighting the road for a few hours (adjustable time). After 0:00, when few vehicles or pedestrians go past, it turn off automatically. And terminal controller has wake-up function. After the street light turn out automatically, when the vehicles or pedestrians are going through, street light will be waken up by terminal controller. When the vehicles or pedestrians go past, the lights are off automatically. Design of new intelligent street light control system does not only achieve energy-saving power but also extend the service life of lighting equipment. Moreover, it is controllable, ease of maintenance. At the same time, it is helpful to highlight the festive and other characteristics, and ultimately make street light network, intelligence, humanity and art. An optimal configuration is reported. Finally, the results of experiment are obtained that: when a motor is closed to 15 meters, LED lights are on automatically. While people passed, the distance is proximity 10 meters.

TL;DR: This thesis designs new street light control system by using Zigbee communication technique which can overcome old systems drawbacks and reduce uneasiness of handling and difficulty of maintenance in operating light Control System.
Abstract: Industry of street lighting systems are growing rapidly and going to complex with rapid growth of industry and cities. To control and maintain complex street lighting system more economically, various street light control systems are developed. Nevertheless most of developed systems have some drawbacks. So we are going to develop new light control system which can overcome old systems drawbacks. We surveyed various street light control systems and analyzed its characteristics. Through these efforts, we found that common drawbacks of most light control systems are uneasiness of handling and difficulty of maintenance. To reduce uneasiness of handling and difficulty of maintenance in operating light control system, we designed new street light control system by using Zigbee communication technique. In this thesis, we describe on the H/W design of new street light control system designed by using Zigbee communication protocol

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated and compared the economic feasibility of two types of systems: islanded and grid-connected system, for the street lighting systems in Hunan Province, China.
Abstract: In the last few years, due to soaring fuel prices and gas emissions, renewable energy technologies have been suggested as the power source for infrastructures. The interest in solar photovoltaic (PV) assisted street lighting systems stems from the fact that they are sustainable and environmentally friendly compared to conventional energy powered systems. The present paper investigates and compares the economic feasibility of two types of systems: islanded and grid-connected system, for the street lighting systems in Hunan Province, China. Based on two options of solar panel materials, a simulation model of the system is developed for economic, technical and environmental feasibility. The comprehensively sustainability feasibility of these systems is conducted taking into account the cost, energy generation, CO2 emissions and renewable fraction. Radar plot is employed to integrate all the sustainability indicators into a general indicator, which presents system’s sustainability as a real number in the interval [0, 2]. Results show that for street lighting systems of all the cities, single crystal panel has a larger number of annual electricity generation, less emissions and higher environmental performance, but is more expansive than polycrystalline. It is also found that when the feed-in tariff higher than 1.27 CNY/kW h, the cost of energy (COE) of the solar powered lighting systems is less than a pure grid powered system. This will incite the use of solar PV in infrastructures. Through comparing the scores of sustainability, it is found that the Loudi system has the highest feasibility while the Yongzhou system has the lowest in the province.

TL;DR: In this article, the power quality of high-power lighting networks based on LED and high-pressure sodium lamps was investigated using measurements, including harmonic currents in the frequency range up to 150 kHz for all technologies.
Abstract: High-pressure sodium lamps are currently the main lamps used in public lighting. However, the possibility of using high-power light emitting diode (LEDs) for street lighting is growing continuously due to their greater energy efficiency, robustness, long life and light control. The aim of this paper is to study the power quality of high-power lighting networks based on LED and high-pressure sodium lamps. Both electromagnetic and dimmable electronic ballasts, which can dim the lamp output smoothly and uniformly, have been used connected to high-pressure sodium lamps. High-pressure sodium lamps connected to electronic equipment have been tested with different arc power levels using dimming on a 230 V power supply. The study presented in this paper is completely based on measurements, including harmonic currents in the frequency range up to 150 kHz for all the technologies. The main results show a broadband spectrum in LED lamps which confirms other research in fluorescent lamps powered by high-frequency ball...

TL;DR: In this article, a monitoring apparatus is included in each street light of a plurality of street lights and data is sent from each monitoring apparatus to a monitoring station via the power supply cables connected to the street lamps under control of the monitoring station.
Abstract: A monitoring apparatus is included in each street light of a plurality of street lights. Each monitoring apparatus monitors the operation of the associated street lamp and stores data representing the operation thereof. Data is sent from each monitoring apparatus to a monitoring station, via the power supply cables connected to the street lamps, under control of the monitoring station. The monitoring station stores the data until it is requested to transfer the data to an interrogating station. The data is then analysed to identify faulty street lights.
