TL;DR: In this paper, a voice-controlled smart traffic (VCST) based on Arduino UNO where the light system can be monitored by the implementation of specific voice commands and traffic-flow-based smart (LED) street light.
Abstract: Traffic congestion and street light monitoring is a vital problem in all part of the cities of India along with other areas of countries. This congestion is formed due to poor management of light signals as well as law enforcement technique. In this paper, we present an idea to build up a voice-controlled smart traffic (VCST) based on Arduino UNO where the light system can be monitored by the implementation of specific voice commands and traffic-flow-based smart (LED) street light. It offers energy optimization methods, low-cost, highly reliable, and user friendly architecture in smart grid architecture with a low-power ZigBee network. Generally, in this proposed system, we use simple voice commands like red, green, yellow, and stop which are used to operate the system. The voice command is forwarded by using an Android application to the Bluetooth module, which successfully differentiates between pre-stored commands and identifies them exactly to control the street light and traffic light system. We propose a smart traffic system based on Arduino UNO that evaluates to change light signals according to the voice message.

TL;DR: A new system to reduce the power consumption of the power line modems, implementing a zero-power stand-by feature, mainly conceived for street lighting systems that use power line communication and where the stand- by power represents an issue.
Abstract: Power line communication is becoming important as a leading technology in Smart Grid applications. This paper presents a new system to reduce the power consumption of the power line modems, implementing a zero-power stand-by feature. The incoming wake-up signal is as simple as a PLC frame and its associated energy is used to supply the wake-up logic. The system is mainly conceived for street lighting systems that use power line communication and where the stand-by power represents an issue because there are thousands of lamps in a city, and the total power consumption of the modems in stand-by mode is not negligible. This paper presents the architecture of the system, as well as the design choices. Experimental results of the system applied to a street light network show that it is possible to wake-up selectively a cluster of lamps up to a distance of about 250m.

TL;DR: In this article, a street light lamp system is provided to rapidly and inexpensively control the entire brightness of a street lighting lamp system by controlling the brightness of an individual or a plurality of slave street light lamps.
Abstract: PURPOSE: A street light lamp system is provided to rapidly and inexpensively control the entire brightness of a street light lamp system by controlling the brightness of a plurality of slave street light lamps CONSTITUTION: A first street light lamp(10) controls brightness by sensing whether an object approaches The first street light lamp transmits a message including brightness information in order to control the brightness of a third street light lamp A second street light lamp receives the message from the first street light lamp The second street light lamp transfers the message to the third street light lamp The third street light lamp receives the message from the second street light lamp The third street light lamp controls brightness according to the brightness information included in the message The message comprises the address of the first street light lamp, the address of a transmission street light lamp, the address of a reception street light lamp, and brightness information

TL;DR: The proposed approach gives a method to conserve power by using the PIR sensors to sense the incoming traffic and hence turning ON a cluster of lights surrounding the traffic.
Abstract: The adaptive street light has the ability to adapt to the motion of cycles, cars and pedestrians. It uses motion as well as light sensors to detect the traffic and light around. It dims when there is no movement on the road, and is brightened when there is any activity. Smart street lights are very dissimilar from the old methods of lighting. It is an automated system that will be able to automate the streets. The main objective of these lights is to decrease the utilization of power, while no activity is detected on the street. It will be switched ON while there are pedestrians and cars on the street or else they will get dimmed to 20% of the brightness. The proposed approach gives a method to conserve power by using the PIR sensors to sense the incoming traffic and hence turning ON a cluster of lights surrounding the traffic. As the traffic is passing by, the street lights left behind will dim on its own. Hence, a lot of power can be conserved. Also, during the day time when there is no need of light the LDR sensor will sense the light and the light will remain switched OFF. This smart street light system comes under the domain of smart city.
