TL;DR: An IOT based street light monitoring and controlling system to ensure, low power consumption, instant faulty light detection and light dimming as per external lighting conditions, is proposed.
Abstract: In this modern era where energy is a major concern worldwide, it is our prior responsibility & liability to save energy effectively. With the development of technology, where automation system plays a vital role in daily life experience and it is being preferred over the traditional manual system today. Here we propose an IOT based street light monitoring and controlling system to ensure, low power consumption, instant faulty light detection and light dimming as per external lighting conditions. Our proposed system consists of smart street lights that have external light sensing that automatically turns on at the desired intensity based on an amount of lighting needed.

TL;DR: An IoT street lights monitoring system is developed to assist the authorities in detecting the broken street light and its location can be identified and alerted to the responsible authorities for further actions in real time.
Abstract: The nature of numerous street lights usage to prevent accidents or for neighbourhood safety offers an opportunity for application of IoT for monitoring and maintenance. Governing authorities normally rely on consumer reports to detect malfunctioning street lights and then respond with repair activities in timely manner. An IoT street lights monitoring system is developed to assist the authorities in detecting the broken street light. The system consists of a Raspberry Pi-3 microcontroller, tilt sensor, light sensor, LED and GPS. The condition of the street light is determined by evaluating light intensity value and bulb positional angle measured by the light sensor and tilt sensor. These sensors provide input measurements to the microcontroller, while GPS communicate the actual position of the street light through Google email. Malfunctioned street lights can be detected and its location can be identified and alerted to the responsible authorities for further actions in real time.

TL;DR: Smart street lighting system manages the street lights automatically turn on in the evening, lighting the road for few hours and gradually reduces the brightness when no one is detected in that area.
Abstract: Nowadays energy crisis in India is a critical issue. Enormous electric energy is consumed by the street lights. At present, street lights a r e controlled manually and it leads to energy loss. In the present study smart street lighting system manages the street lights automatically turn on in the evening, lighting the road for few hours. It gradually reduces the brightness when no one is detected in that area. When vehicles or pedestrians are detected, the street lights automatically turn on. Design of smart Street lighting system does not only achieve energy-saving but also extend the service life of street light equipment.

TL;DR: Current sensors placed at every street light circuits are responsible to report problem status to the centralized system with help of GSM module attached with the circuit, which minimizes the time to search it and repair.
Abstract: The project "STREET LIGHT MONITORING AND CONTROL SYSTEM" is developed for automatic street lights maintenance and to reduce power consumption. The application is designed in such a way that we place light sensors in all street light circuits, which is responsible to switch on and off automatically. once the lights are switched on current sensors placed at every street light circuits are responsible to report problem status to the centralized system with help of GSM module attached with the circuit. The status is available in the centralized system, the work man now can easily locate the particular light to take care which minimizes the time to search it and repair. The system also maintains database to store useful information from each street light like power consumption, total number of burning hours, total number of interruptions, tally the actual power consumption with the power supplied and details of fault detection. Hence maintaining the system with optimal power consumption giving commercial benefits to business and the prosperity of the city as a whole. .Keywords: current sensor, GSM, Light Dependant Resistor (LDR), microcontroller

TL;DR: An Automatic Solar Panel Based LED Street Lighting System with wireless communication technology and various sensors to facilitate reduced power consumption and economy in maintenance costs is proposed.
Abstract: Electricity has become are indispensable component in the lives of all today. Street lights are one of the most crucial parts for public sector and urban areas. The traditional street lighting System which controlled manually has disadvantages like high power consumption, high cost and there is no effective monitoring system. This paper is proposes an Automatic Solar Panel Based LED Street Lighting System with wireless communication technology and various sensors to facilitate reduced power consumption. The system is connected to ZIGBEE network to transfer the information about street lights by utilizing ZIGBEE transmitters and receivers. The data is sent to base station control to know the status of the street light and to take proper evaluation in case of malfunction. The proposed prototype has been tested in different environmental conditions. The system has achieved 20-22 % of power reduction and economy in maintenance costs. A laboratory prototype was implemented and tested. Experimental results were shown to verify the feasibility of the proposed scheme.
