TL;DR: A scheme for locating the control point of street light network in urban district is proposed to replace the conventional always-on policy based on the geographic information of an urban environment and the experimental results demonstrate that the proposed scheme is very reliable and efficient to construct theStreet light network of urban district.
Abstract: Energy conservation is the top-priority policy for public street light infrastructure construction in recent years. Traditional periodically always-on policy guarantees the brightness for dark nigh...

TL;DR: This research gives precise and the best control over energy efficient street lighting system using LoRa and Arduino micro-controller and communication part is realized with Low Power Wide Area Network (LP-WAN) LoRa technology that combine low power and long-range capabilities.
Abstract: Increase in population and the corresponding increase of roads has increased the number of the street light, for the roads and people’s safety, which rises investment and energy. Lighting consumes an adequate amount of energy in both outdoor and indoor. However different approaches are being proposed for making systems energy efficient and upgraded with the latest technology. Internet of Things (IoT) has been growing over the last few years in multiple applications and due to a growing need for smart street light, an innovative opportunity arises. Proposed work is to develop a smart street light system. This research gives precise and the best control over energy efficient street lighting system. It gives practical implementation using Long Range (LoRa) and Arduino micro-controller using sensors to gather information. The communication part is realized with Low Power Wide Area Network (LP-WAN) LoRa technology that combine low power and long-range capabilities.

Abstract: This final year honours thesis project was undertaken with Eco-FX; it involved consulting, designing and developing their new Smart City Street Lighting System. Smart Street Lighting utilises wireless control and monitoring to produce a more energy efficient and sustainable street light system. Previously, the technology and the wider community were obstacles in its development; presently with advancement in wireless low data rate protocols and support from the Western Australian Local Government Association, the development of the system is approaching its completion. To consult on the design and development for this project required vast amounts of research about the existing lighting technologies, public utilities and low data rate wireless protocols. The methodology was to research and evaluate all protocol and hardware technologies available. These technology options were presented to the relevant stakeholders for discussion; and then the final design specification was approved. The ZigBee protocol met final design specifications and requirements for Eco-FX; therefore the ZigBee Alliance was contacted to find the best approach in designing to their standard. After the guidance from the ZigBee Alliance, more research was conducted on the hardware and the services required for implementing the Smart City Street Light System. The final stage in the project was finding manufacturers and designers for the required hardware and software to develop the system in China. The previous research and evaluation provided guidance in specifying to the manufacturer and designer all the critical features required by Eco-FX in the system; and ensured all Australian and international standards were met in the manufacturing and designing process.

TL;DR: The smart street light control system adopts a dynamic control methodology and would help in reducing the overall consumption of street light energy and support to energy-saving aspects of the nations.
Abstract: Objective: The main purpose of this paper is to design and execute the system to control the intensity of the street light without any manual operation. Methods: The system is based on the principle of light and motion sensing. The system is made efficient enough by replacing the HID lamps with the LEDs. In general, street lights on the highways are designed with high-intensity lamps that consume more energy and also cannot be changed as per the requirement. Thus, the proposed system overcomes these problems using LEDs instead of HID lamps in the street light systems. It is the Dual Power Saver setup since it saves power with the help of solar energy which charges the battery of the circuit using the solar panel and second by just increasing the intensity of the LED in the presence of a pedestrian or a vehicle using the suitable combination of microcontroller and IR sensors. The Microcontroller AT89c51 is used for control mechanism of the system. Results and Conclusion: The smart street light control system adopts a dynamic control methodology. According to the proposed plan, initially, when it becomes dark, all the street lights automatically glows with low intensity. However, throughout the night streetlights remain switched on for security concerns on low intensity. When a vehicle passes by, a block of street lights glows, and as the vehicle moves forward, the next block of lights starts glowing where the previous block switches back to low intensity. Whereas, lights will be kept OFF when there is sufficient amount of natural light is available. The proposed work would help in reducing the overall consumption of street light energy and support to energy-saving aspects of the nations.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors proposed a kind of optimizational energy saving streetlight that based on the voltage and reactive power, which mainly aims at the demand of Jinan street lamp management.
Abstract: Street lamp has become the essential functional unit in society for its widely use , Street lamp power energy saving has become a very worth studying problem high demand. Aiming at such a demand, this paper proposed a kind of optimizational energy saving streetlight that based on the voltage and reactive power, this article put forward such a research mainly aims at the demand of Jinan street lamp management. The research improved the grid power factor, reduced the network pressure drop and reduces the energy consumption of street lamp. It upload the master station through GPRS network real-timely, And accept command such as mode conversion, parameter setting, time checking and capacitor switching. It implements the voltage optimization function, remote monitoring and control functions on the basis of ensuring road illumination and uniformity, Which realized street light energy-saving and reduced the loss of lines and transformers at the same time. And it protect lighting lamps effectively. Examples show that the study further improved the management level of Jinan street lamp, it realized the double harvest of electricity environment optimization and electrical energy saving, Which made a great contribution to energy-saving society construction.
