TL;DR: In this article, a triple-stub tuning system has been implemented on Alcator C-Mod, where one stub acts as a pre-matching stub and the other two stubs use fast ferrite tuners (FFTs) to accomplish fast tuning.

TL;DR: In this article, a quasi-elliptic response bandpass filter (BPF) with 3 dB fractional bandwidth of 39.8% for 2.4 GHz WLAN application is presented.
Abstract: This letter presents a novel quasi-elliptic response bandpass filter (BPF) with 3 dB fractional bandwidth of 39.8% for 2.4 GHz WLAN application. Four resonant modes from two stepped-impedance stub loaded shorted stepped-impedance resonators (SISLSSIRs) and one dual-mode shorted stub loaded stepped-impedance resonator (SSLSIR) can constitute an asynchronously tuned coupled-resonator circuit which support a wideband performance. Four transmission zeros (TZs), i.e., one TZ due to the mixed electric and magnetic coupling, one TZ due to the harmonic effects, and another two TZs owing to the cross-couplings, are realized on both sides of the passband, resulting in its quasi-elliptic response performance. The radial stubs and high-impedance open stubs are loaded at the middle position of SISLSSIRs to improve the in-band return loss of BPF. The fabricated filter has a compact size of $0.22\lambda_{\bf g}\times 0.22\lambda_{\bf g}$ and wide upper stopband from 2.62 to 7.69 GHz. Good agreement is shown between the simulated and measured results.

TL;DR: In this article, a tri-band bandpass filter (TB-BPF) based on stubs loaded stepped-impedance resonator (SLSIR) is proposed.
Abstract: This letter presents a novel tri-band bandpass filter (TB-BPF) based on proposed stubs loaded stepped-impedance resonator (SLSIR). The first three resonant modes of proposed SLSIR can be independently controlled by the shorted high-impedance section of SIR, the loaded open stub and the loaded shorted stub, respectively, resulting in the independency of central frequencies and return losses of three passbands. As an example, a TB-BPF operating at 0.9/1.8/2.45 GHz are designed and fabricated. Due to the cancelling effect of mixed electric and magnetic coupling, the virtual grounds existed in SLSIR and the introduced embedded open stub, six transmission zeros are realized around three passbands, resulting in the high passband selectivity and band-to-band isolation. The fabricated TB-BPF also has a compact size of $0.06\lambda_{\mathbf{g}}\times 0.162\lambda_{\mathbf{g}}$ .

TL;DR: In this article, a planar dual-L antenna with a novel tuning technique is presented for an integrated GPS/PCS dual-band application, where the tuning structure is made of a metal stub attached to one of the shorting plates of the antenna, and thus facilitates the independent tuning for lower frequency bands.
Abstract: A planar dual-L antenna with a novel tuning technique is presented for an integrated GPS/PCS dual-band application. The tuning structure is made of a metal stub attached to one of the shorting plates of the dual-L, antenna, and thus facilitates the independent tuning for lower frequency bands. Simulation and measurements were performed and dual bands of 1565.19 MHz-1585.65 MHz and 1850 MHz-1990 MHz with a return loss better than -10 dB were achieved.

TL;DR: Characteristics of plasmonic filters based on stubs coupled perpendicularly to metal–insulator–metal waveguides are described and a designing procedure is proposed based on impedance curves, which lead to responses with great accordance to those obtained by numeric techniques.
Abstract: In this study, we describe characteristics of plasmonic filters based on stubs coupled perpendicularly to metal–insulator–metal waveguides. To achieve a desirable filter, a designing procedure is proposed based on impedance curves, which lead to responses with great accordance to those obtained by numeric techniques. We study the impact of stub lengths and distance between stubs on bandgap width and filter sharpening. In addition, we illustrate the existence of trade-off between filter dimensions and filter parameters, which lead to a discussion about advantages and disadvantages of these structures. Validation of analytic results is confirmed with the finite-difference time-domain method.
