TL;DR: In this article, a resonant-type LiNbO/sub 3/ optical modulator with symmetric stubs and modulating electrodes was investigated and the enhancement factor of the fabricated modulator was 3.41 at 10 GHz.
Abstract: A resonant-type LiNbO/sub 3/ optical modulator with symmetric stubs and modulating electrodes was investigated. Modulation efficiency was enhanced by the resonance of the modulating electrode. The enhancement factor of the fabricated modulator was 3.41 at 10 GHz.

TL;DR: A novel microwave microfluidic sensor based on a dual-mode resonator that consists of a folded microstrip line loaded with interdigital lines and a stub at the plane of symmetry that allows simultaneous sensing of two fluids using a resonance shift method.
Abstract: In this paper, we propose a novel microwave microfluidic sensor with dual-sensing capability. The sensor is based on a dual-mode resonator that consists of a folded microstrip line loaded with interdigital lines and a stub at the plane of symmetry. Due to the specific configuration, the resonator exhibits two entirely independent resonant modes, which allows simultaneous sensing of two fluids using a resonance shift method. The sensor is designed in a multilayer configuration with the proposed resonator and two separated microfluidic channels-one intertwined with the interdigital lines and the other positioned below the stub. The circuit has been fabricated using low-temperature co-fired ceramics technology and its performance was verified through the measurement of its responses for different fluids in the microfluidic channels. The results confirm the dual-sensing capability with zero mutual influence as well as good overall performance. Besides an excellent potential for dual-sensing applications, the proposed sensor is a good candidate for application in mixing fluids and cell counting.

TL;DR: In this paper, a compact dual-band bandpass filter using short stub loaded resonators is presented, the proposed resonator possesses the advantage that its center frequency of the even mode can be flexibly controlled, whereas that of the odd mode is fixed.
Abstract: Compact dual-band bandpass filter using short stub loaded resonators is presented in this letter, the proposed resonator possesses the advantage that its center frequency of the even mode can be flexibly controlled, whereas that of the odd-mode is fixed. A dual-band filter using pseudo-interdigital SSLR is implemented with three transmission zeros. Meandering SSLR is proposed to obtain independently controlled bandwidth at each band. Two experimental examples of filters have been designed and fabricated, good agreements are shown between the simulation and the measurement. The bandpass filters have very smaller area in comparison of previous works. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. TL;DR: In this article, the design of multi-band bandpass filters employing stub loaded stepped-impedance resonator with defected microstrip structure (SL-SIR-DMS) is presented for the first time.
Abstract: The design of multi-band bandpass filters (BPFs) employing stub loaded stepped-impedance resonator with defected microstrip structure (SL-SIR-DMS) is presented in this study for the first time. The proposed SL-SIR-DMS is created by embedding DMS on the low-impedance line of the SL-SIR. It is found that different defected structures can lead to different frequency responses. In addition, by using DMS, tri-band and even quad-band responses can be easily achieved without increasing the resonator size. As verification, one tri-band SL-SIR-DMS and one quad-band SL-SIR-DMS are designed and analysed using even/odd-mode method. Subsequently, one tri-band BPF and one quad-band BPF have been developed with pseudo-interdigital coupling to realise good out-of-band performance. The predicted results are compared with measured ones and good agreement is achieved. Compared with BPFs using only SL-SIR, the proposed filters with DMS are more compact due to the slow-wave characteristic. Compared with the BPFs using defected ground structure to improve the stopband performance, the proposed ones can realise comparable wide stopbands but maintaining the signal integrity on the ground plane for packaging purpose.

TL;DR: In this paper, a nearly square-wave spin transmission with values 1 and 0 was obtained using a periodic system of symmetric stubs and changing their length or width, and an additional modulation was obtained upon combining stub structures with different values of the spin-orbit strength.
Abstract: Ballistic spin transport is studied through electronic tuners with double stubs attached to them. The spins precess due to the spin–orbit interaction. Injected polarized spins can exit the structure polarized in the opposite direction. A nearly square-wave spin transmission, with values 1 and 0, can be obtained using a periodic system of symmetric stubs and changing their length or width. The gaps in the transmission can be widened using asymmetric stubs. An additional modulation is obtained upon combining stub structures with different values of the spin–orbit strength.
