Abstract: A capacitive sensing apparatus for a vehicle seat includes a deflectable dielectric mat and a flexible printed circuit that wraps around the major surfaces of the dielectric mat to define upper and lower conductor strips that overlap in a direction perpendicular to the dielectric mat. Overlapping regions of the conductor strips define an array of capacitive load cells distributed over the seating surface. A connector stub depending from the flexible printed circuit couples the conductor strips to an external circuit that measures the capacitance of the various load cells to determine occupant weight and weight distribution.

TL;DR: A new refractive index sensor based on a metal–insulator–metal waveguide coupled with a notched ring resonator and stub is designed and the results reveal potential applications of the coupled system in the field of sensors.
Abstract: In this study, a new refractive index sensor based on a metal-insulator-metal waveguide coupled with a notched ring resonator and stub is designed. The finite element method is used to study the propagation characteristics of the sensor. According to the calculation results, the transmission spectrum exhibits a typical Fano resonance shape. The phenomenon of Fano resonance is caused by the coupling between the broadband spectrum and narrowband spectrum. In the design, the broadband spectrum signal is generated by the stub, while the narrowband spectrum signal is generated by the notched ring resonator. In addition, the structural parameters of the resonators and the structure filled with media of different refractive indices are varied to study the sensing properties. The maximum achieved sensitivity of the sensor reached 1071.4 nm/RIU. The results reveal potential applications of the coupled system in the field of sensors.

TL;DR: In this paper, a compact planar phase shifters with wide range of differential phase shift across ultra wideband frequency are proposed, which use broadside coupled structure terminated with open-ended or short-ended stubs.
Abstract: Compact planar phase shifters with wide range of differential phase shift across ultra-wideband frequency are proposed. To achieve that performance, the devices use broadside coupled structure terminated with open-ended or short-ended stubs. The theory of operation for the proposed devices is derived. To validate the theory, several phase shifters are designed to achieve a differential phase ranging from -180° to 180°. Moreover, three prototypes are developed and tested. The simulated and measured results agree well with the theory and show less than 7° phase deviation and 1.4 dB insertion loss across the band 3.1-10.6 GHz.

TL;DR: In this paper, a compact bandpass filter is proposed for lower-band ultra wideband applications, which consists of a stub-tapped half-wavelength line resonator which provides three transmission poles in the passband and two transmission zeros at the high and low rejection bands.
Abstract: A compact bandpass filter is proposed for lower-band ultra-wideband applications. It entails the design concept of a stub-tapped half-wavelength line resonator which provides three transmission poles in the passband and two transmission zeros at the high and low rejection bands. The two stubs are replaced by a single dual-band stub and the parallel coupled-line structures are meandered, leading to a compact size of 0.26lambdag by 0.32lambda g
