TL;DR: In this paper, an automatic gear changing system for derailment of a multi-speed bicycle from one rear transmission to another rear transmission sprocket to effect rear transmission gear shifting is presented.
Abstract: An automatic electromechanical gear changing system for automatically derailing the endless chain of a multi-speed bicycle from one rear transmission sprocket to another rear transmission sprocket to effect rear transmission gear shifting. The automatic gear changing system includes a main housing member mounted to a down tube of the bicycle, a handlebar-mounted console which displays various system parameters for the rider (type of program in use by system, speed, gear, battery level, trip miles), and a microprocessor unit disposed within the console for initiating, controlling, and terminating transmission gear shifting of the endless chain on the rear transmission sprockets. The main housing member encloses a drive motor, a linear actuator threaded shaft which is actuated for rotational motion by the drive motor, a linear actuator stub mounted upon the shaft and selectively engaged by the shaft for linear reciprocal movement within the housing member, and a cable attachment for attaching an end of the rear derailleur cable to the stub so that selective linear movement of the stub shifts the derailleur cable and causes the derailment of the chain from one sprocket to another sprocket. Embedded in each housing member is an inductance coil which encompasses a portion of both the stub and the shaft, and the linear movement of the stub within the housing induces voltage changes in the coil which correspond to specific gears of the bicycle. Such voltage changes are interpreted by the mpu to initiate, control and terminate automatic gear shifting.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors proposed the newly etched DGS with a spiral shape in metallic ground plane and the equivalent circuit modeling applied to a spiral DGS for the microstrip line.
Abstract: We proposed the newly etched DGS (Defected Ground Structure) with a spiral shape in metallic ground plane and the equivalent circuit modeling applied to a spiral DGS for the microstrip line. The proposed spiral DGS can provide steep rejection characteristics with the one and only spiral. The equivalent circuit for the spiral DGS Is derived by means of three-dimensional field analysis methods. To represent spurious resonance, the equivalent circuit of a spiral DGS is consisted of an Inductor and a shorted stub with step impedance. The circuit parameters are extracted from a simple circuit analysis method. Experimental results show excellent agreements with circuit simulation results in wide band and the validity of our circuit modeling for the spiral DGS.

TL;DR: In this article, a coplanar waveguide (CPW) fed ultra-thin, low profile, and flexible fractal antenna with a wideband harmonic rejection for 2.45 GHz ISM band spectrum applications is presented.
Abstract: This paper presents, the design, and characterization of a coplanar waveguide (CPW) fed ultra-thin, low-profile, and flexible fractal antenna with a wideband harmonic rejection for 2.45-GHz ISM band spectrum applications. The antenna consists of rectangular fractal patches and a stub, etched on a very thin substrate. The fractal patch is utilized to achieve miniaturization of 30% with respect to conventional quadrilateral patch antenna. A rectangular stub is introduced perpendicular to the feedline to minimize the harmonics over a wide frequency band 3.3–11.0 GHz. Simulated and measured results demonstrate that the antenna offers an operating band 2.276–2.72 GHz, which fully covers the ISM band (2.4–2.5 GHz). Along with this, the antenna exhibits promising radiation characteristics of omnidirectional gain around 2.2 dBi and radiation efficiency of better than 95%. The proposed antenna has a compact overall size of 0.24λo × 0.20λo × 0.0005λo (λo is the free-space wavelength at 2.45 GHz) along with other advantages, including ultra-thin geometry and wide harmonic rejection. These features make the proposed antenna become a potential candidate for ISM band applications.

TL;DR: In this article, the adjustment between the stub guards of a sickle knife arrangement of a crop cutting apparatus is improved by the provision of an adjustment plate which is positioned between the upper stub guard and the support bar.
Abstract: The adjustment between the stub guards of a sickle knife arrangement of a crop cutting apparatus is improved by the provision of an adjustment plate which is positioned between the upper stub guard and the support bar. The upper and lower stub guards are clamped onto the support bar by carriage bolts with the lower stub guard engaging against the under surface of the support bar and the upper stub guard engaging against the upper surface of the adjustment plate. The spacing and orientation of the adjustment plate relative to the support bar is adjusted by the three set screws which are threaded into the adjustment plate and engaged against the upper surface of the support bar. The adjustment technique is simple, requires few parts and avoids the necessity for shims.

TL;DR: A compact ultrawideband (UWB) multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) antenna with reconfigurable band notch characteristics is presented, which blocks worldwide interoperability for microwave access or wireless local area network band interference.
Abstract: In this study, a compact ultrawideband (UWB) multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) antenna with reconfigurable band notch characteristics is presented. The key feature of the antenna is its novel dual-band notch technique which blocks worldwide interoperability for microwave access or wireless local area network band interference. The UWB-MIMO property is achieved by two square monopoles separated by grounded multi-branch T-shaped stub. The reconfigurable dual-band notch operation is performed by PIN diodes integrated in a parasitic resonant structure in the ground plane. The antenna has a compact size of 40 × 20 mm 2 , with the operating frequency band of 3-11 GHz, where port isolation is better than 15 dB. The MIMO performance is ensured by calculating envelope correlation coefficient for the isotropic, indoor and outdoor environment.
